The Supreme Court's 1998 ruling on Quebec secession applies nationwide. Sure, no province can unilaterally separate, but a clear referendum question with a clear majority in favor obliges Ottawa and the other provinces to negotiate in good faith. The 'Clarity Act ' enforces this framework, ensuring transparency and democracy. Alberta's own laws, like the 'Referendum Act' and the 'Citizen Initiative Act', make holding this vote straightforward, transparent, and constitutional. In a free society, seeking independence via peaceful, democratic means honours our values of freedom and accountability. This is not a rebellion, it's responsible citizenship.
