11 years ago I started Boss Key. Sigh. It was amazing at first and then, well, it broke me for a good long while. Still bitter about the internet finding it hilarious that my studio folded.

@RetroMoviesDB Saturday in 99, eh? Could have been either FF7 or 8, Armored Core, Mega Man 8/X4, or Metal Gear Solid most likely. Maybe even Breath of Fire 3. Man, I bounced around between games a lot.

One of my favorite mementos from childhood is this 1988 Legend of Zelda board game. It was a gift from my Dad when I was very small, and I’ve kept it my most of my life. Link and Zelda look like Christmas elves, but I love how it captured the top-down perspective of the Nintendo game. The first three areas are like Overworld “screens,” and the last three like dungeons. Each area has a special tile, like a raft, key, or Zelda herself interspersed with enemy tiles. It’s very much a kid’s game, but I loved it then and still treasure it now ❤️

We've been experimenting with various methods of creating stages since we decided to significantly scale back the scope of our stages. These new methods are less of a load on the GPU. Lesson #7653489: "Plan efficiency and performance from the beginning" ^_-
