Yep! My 3 latest back injuries were: 1. petting the dog. 2. picking up a towel. 3.thinking about lifting a bag of concrete.

The reason the majors today are "majors" is because Arnold Palmer said they were. So, there's no body that invents a major, the best golfers in the world need only agree. Personally, I would prefer a 5th major that globe trots a bit over the PGA or some other stationary tournament.

@SHistorians @andrewjcarr29 That's what the English do- if they like something from Scotland or Wales (or Ireland or Canada...), it becomes "British"

@andrewjcarr29 I have a unproven theory that calling it the “British Open” a term that started after Vardon and Taylor started as part of UK centric thinking.

If you are excited about the Open, or you are a person who still says “British Open” and hate to get admonished for it. Take a minute to read our SOCIETY Newsletter where we share the history of the title “The British Open.” It’s easy to blame Americans for the use, but as the article shows…it’s not all our fault. FYI Scottish newspapers were calling it the British Open only 2 years after the first American Newspaper did in 1900. FYI - it is “the Open,” but we shine a light on the looked down upon name- all in good fun! (As an aside Americans didn’t invent the word “soccer” either…when someone gets mad at you for using the word soccer, remind them it’s a British Term not an American one) #Golfhistory

@cpgjosh @BigSwingTempo Once a year, I'll will play a worst ball with myself (only 2 balls- three is a lot of work!) It really helps focus.

@BigSwingTempo Ways to improve score (imho) in order: - Play a round with your coach - Play a round by yourself, use 3 balls & play best ball - Driving range with coach - Play a round with randos - Driving range by yourself

Should a golfer trying to improve their scores practice on the range more, or play more rounds? I’m trying to find the right balance between the range and playing.

@BigSwingTempo Play rounds of golf, you can't learn to score on the range. Use the range to work on specific issues you find on the course.

Shot a tidy 75 in the first round of qualifying for a VSGA event. I think a Cohiba Nicaragua is a nice celebration/ reminder to stay steady.... Oh! New fawns!

@eighteenholes18 Yeah, the old words are more fun. So most golfers still use them. The rules never included "it's in the drink" to connote a ball having come to rest in the wettest penalty area, a glaring oversight by the R&A.

Fun fact: After more than 250 years in the Rules of Golf, the word "hazard" disappeared in 2019. Golfers still use it every day, but officially there are now only bunkers and penalty areas. The term "hazard" no longer exists in the Rules. ⛳📖

Among the many unorthodox things that @ChrisGotterup does. Sits his putter toe on the ground with the heel raised. (For what it's worth, he holed this)

2nd qulifying round for my VSGA event was a bit of a jewell- even par! Sitting at +3 with 1 round to go, I think +6 or 7 might make the cut, so gotta stay focused. Anyway, I think the effort was Le Bijou worthy! Happy Saturday folks!

I understand the #shrinkthegame idea, and even agree with it to some extent. I don’t understand the hysteria from the X Golf gatekeeper crowd. 75% of beginners fail to commit to golf. Golf doesn’t need your gatekeeping, it’s difficulty is the gatekeeping. Chill out.
