What next at FKF?
Following the allegations of the CHAN scandal, in which Ksh42m is alleged to have been wired to Riskwell insurance, a company not licensed to operate as an insurance brokerage, without bidding, FKF NEC has on Friday April 24, 2026 moved to suspend president Hussein Mohamed, acting CEO Dennis Gicheru, and nominated NEC member Abdullahi Yussuf Ibrahim.
Just like any other sports dispute in Kenya, the three are expected to challenge this decision at the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) and could be reinstated until the matter is heard and determined.
The Daily Nation reported that EACC has prioritized an investigation into this alleged CHAN scandal. If EACC ends up recommending review and prosecution by the DPP, the involved parties will have to step aside pending investigations and completion of the entire case. In 2021, the then-FKF president Nick Mwendwa stepped aside after being charged with multiple counts of fraud. Mwendwa and others, who were not present in court, were accused of taking from FKF about Ksh38m. The case was, however, withdrawn in 2022 by the DPP.
Once Hussein (elected FKF president in December 2024) steps aside, deputy president McDonald Mariga will take over until the next general meeting. The AGM can resolve to permanently remove Mohamed and elect a new president.
Kenya is currently preparing to co-host the AFCON 2027 with Uganda and Tanzania.

🚨 OFFICIAL: Barcelona fill complaint to UEFA for referee and VAR decisions. ⚠️
FC Barcelona reports that, on the day of the day of the day, the Club's legal services have presented a formal complaint against UEFA in relation to the matches that occurred in the match of the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League against Athletic Madrid. The club considers that it will produce an arbitration action contrary to current regulations, with a direct impact on the development of the encounter and its result.
The claim focuses on a specific action. At the 54th minute of the match, once the game had resumed correctly, a rival player will attack the pilot with his hand inside the area without that being pointed out to the criminal correspondent. FC Barcelona understand that this decision, together with the non-intervention of the VAR, constituted an important error. As a consequence, the club has requested the opening of an investigation, access to arbitration communications and, if applicable, the official recognition of errors and the adoption of the relevant measures.
In this matter, FC Barcelona considers that it is not the first time that, in recent editions of the UEFA Champions League, incomprehensible refereeing decisions have harmed the equipment, generating a clear comparative group and preventing them from competing in equal conditions with other clubs.
🚨⚠️ Hansi Flick: “There was a clear penalty and a second yellow card for Atléti”.
“What's the point of VAR if it's there in the first place? I just can't understand that”.
