agency owners are the WORST people to cold email
they know every trick
they know every template
they recognise the format before they finish the subject line
they get 50+ cold emails a day from people trying to sell them something
they literally TEACH other people how to do cold email
and 6 out of every 100 of them reply to MY emails saying yes
thats 12x the industry average
in the "hardest" niche possible
here is exactly why and what im doing differently:
FIRST: the leads arent from apollo
this is where 99% of cold emailers already lose
every single person using apollo is emailing the same people
the same founders
the same CEOs
the same agency owners

congratulations you are competing with 73 other people for the same 3 seconds of attention
we dont use apollo for agency leads
we scrape twitter
specifically: we go to big accounts in the space - the guys with 30K 40K 50K followers who talk about agencies and marketing
we scrape their followers
and we filter for keywords in bios: "agency" "founder" "CEO" "ads" "marketing" "SEO" "email"
these people have publicly told you what they do for a living
its in their bio
and nobody is cold emailing them because nobody thinks to look there
apollo leads get 50 cold emails a day
twitter-scraped leads get zero
ZERO
youre the first and only person in their inbox
thats the difference between 0.5% reply rate and 6%
SECOND: the script is almost offensively simple
i showed someone my cold email script last week and they actually laughed
"thats it?"
yeah thats it
its 3 lines
line 1: if we could help you sign 10-30 clients in 30 days or you dont pay a penny
line 2: would you be open to a quick video showing how?
line 3: reply yes and ill send it over
no personalised first line
no "i saw your recent post about"
no compliment
no paragraph explaining our methodology

and i genuinely dont think the grammar is even perfect
doesnt matter
because the OFFER does all the heavy lifting
"10-30 clients in 30 days or you dont pay"
thats not an email
thats a bet
and agency owners love bets they cant lose
THIRD: i dont ask for a call
this is the one everyone gets wrong
most cold emails end with "would you be open to a quick call?"
a call is a commitment
a call requires checking a calendar
a call means 30 minutes with a stranger
a call feels like being sold to
so they say "let me think about it" which means no
instead i say "reply yes and ill send a video"
a video is zero commitment
a video takes 2 minutes
a video doesnt require scheduling
a video lets them evaluate you without talking to you
they reply yes
i send the video
they watch it
they self-qualify
THEY ask for the call
the dynamic completely flips
youre not chasing them onto a call
theyre requesting one after watching your pitch on their own terms
close rate on calls from this method: significantly higher than cold-booked calls
because by the time they get on the phone they already know what you do and already want it
FOURTH: i call them the second they reply
someone says "yeah send the video"
most people send the video and wait
i send the video AND call them within 10 minutes
"hey its james - just sent over that video. wanted to quickly see if it makes sense to book a proper chat this week"
they already said yes
the video is fresh in their mind
youre on the phone before they forget you exist
booking rate when you call within 10 minutes: roughly 70% if they pick up
booking rate when you send a calendly link and wait: roughly 7%
10x difference from picking up a phone
the entire system:
- scrape leads from twitter (not apollo)
- 3-line script with an offer they cant refuse
- ask for a video reply not a call
- call them within 10 minutes of their reply
