FRIDAY, April 24 will feature scattered severe storms in eastern Oklahoma, near/northeast of Dallas along I-30, western Arkansas and the Missouri Ozarks. We'll have low pressure in southeast Colorado and a cold front crashing south. Ahead of the front, ample warm/humid air will mean plentiful instability, or thunderstorm fuel. That will support severe weather. The big wildcard? Friday's storms depend on what happens on Thursday. Will leftover storms re-develop? Will morning rain leave behind cloud cover and cut back on daytime heating? Will Thursday's storms leave a boundary that will be a focal mechanism for Friday's storms? That's TBD. For now, if you live in Arkansas in particular, plan for scattered strong/severe storms. The main risks are hail up to golf ball size and perhaps some isolated damaging gusts. There's a low, but not zero, tornado risk.
