Have you ever heard of “ Brain De@th” before? I never knew what it meant until life forced me to. Shortly after my husband had a successful surgical operation, He had a cardiac arrest, and went into coma straight. Every day in the ICU was painful. Emotionally, spiritually and financially, it felt like living inside a nightmare. After few days, the doctors declared him brain dead. They explained it to be a situation where the brain has diéd and such stopped functioning completely, but the organs are still working by the help of machine 😭. They further explained that medically, he was already gone, even though his vitals were still showing active. The doctors at this point advised us the family to sign an authorization for the life support to be removed because being on the machine was extra huge money hourly. But I could not accept it. As long as his heart was beating, I kept believing God could still bring him back. I prayed over him constantly. I laid my hands on him every day, believing for a miracle. Then one night, I had a dream. I saw my husband wearing the same hospital clothes he wore into surgery. He was walking barefoot, moving forward slowly. It looked like he wanted to turn back, as if he forgot something important behind him. But there were lots of clustered cars behind him like traffic jam that covered the entire road, blowing loud sirens . He kept looking back, but there was no space in between cars for him to return When I woke up, my heart was heavy. That morning, I prayed one of the hardest prayers of my life:“God, if you have truly taken my husband, then let everything stop working on its own to the glory of Your name.” After praying, I went into the ICU as usual to pray for him. And immediately I stepped in … everything stopped. The machines, The sounds, the vitals, Everything showed zero . That was the moment I knew he was gone 😭 Some people misunderstood my pain. Some even accused me wrongly. But deep in my heart, I know I fought for my husband with everything I had. I stood in faith until the very end. Life will sometimes bring us to moments we never imagined we could survive. But even in pain, God remains faithful. Some prayers and tears we shade for our loved ones whom God have already called home could stop them from resting in peace. Sometimes love means holding on while Sometimes love means letting go. ©Christy series
