@RealTomH Spooky isn't it. When he came canvassing 2019 I said "You're Lynne Murray's little boy." He still talks to me. He rang me after October 7 to check I was OK. He's a mensch.

Ireland and Eurovision a little thread: An Irish friend who works in TV has written to make an important point. She believes that Israel is being used as a ‘scapegoat’ for Ireland’s cash-strapped RTE withdrawing from the Eurovision song contest. (Below 2024 Irish contestant Bambi Thug crying about how awful it was when people pushed back at her bullying of the Israeli contestant).

My MP Catherine West admits she hadn’t even looked at Labour Party rules on leadership challenges before her bizarre bid. And it appears while rivals to Starmer had well-oiled plans in place, she’s ridden roughshod over them. She was inspired by the huge losses in Haringey which saw our local Labour Party decimated and the Greens win most seats although they are one short of a majority.

🚨🚨🚨EXCL Catherine West speaks to the New Statesman about her leadership bid, including: Party leadership begged her to delay this move until Tuesday, after the PM’s reset speech On triggering a contest: “I haven't actually even looked at the rules because I don't actually want to do this” She says she has been “inundated” with support from MPs but “I haven't actually looked at who they are” Dismisses anger from leadership camps that were blindsided: “some people will be upset with me because of the risk, because some of them had a plan about, you know, in six months time, we're gonna do this, and then we're gonna do that. Sorry, that's just too late.” Says Andy Burnham cannot be PM: “I'm sorry for people who had a big plan about particular candidates who one day will be, you know, an MP and all that sort of thing… I really like Andy, but he's not here on the spot, so he can't really do it” She says she is both a “lone wolf” and a “stalking horse” but that: “You know what sometimes happens to stalking horses? They become the candidate” She will not back down until other candidates publicly announce - not private assurances or backroom deals: “They've got to be open, they need to be upfront like me.” Thinks next PM could be an unknown MP and even one from the 2024 intake - thinks her shock move could trigger a more interesting contest A friend losing her council seat was part of her reason for going now

Mark Adderley, husband of Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha, has been elected in Crystal Palace & Upper Norwood - despite being suspended from the Green Party over his 'anti-Semitic rants'. He will sit as an independent on the council. @DailyMail dailymail.com/news/article-1…

Can’t march. Have to enter via searched entry. No bags. This is what it takes for Jews and allies just to be able to protest against Jew hate. Please come along for a society where these safety measures would be unnecessary.

@nicolelampert Greens were predicted to get 9-22 seats in Ealing, they only got 5. I think his actions in the last week have sabotaged both him and the Green Party. I don't see the Greens ever winning as many votes again as the wider public sees the reality of Muslim infiltration

Even as it looks like the Greens may take my council, I’m told that this image may have stopped Polanski’s hopes for greater success across the country, along with his attack on police officers arresting a man who had stabbed people.

BREAKING NEWS “Furious” Starmer was not told local elections had taken place yesterday. The PM claims civil servants kept him in the dark until this morning. He has ordered an enquiry into why the elections had gone ahead without his knowledge. “I thought we’d cancelled them” he told Sky News.

Elections are about people. Their worries and their concerns. Their hopes and their dreams. Humbled that @EalingLabour has been entrusted to once again lead our borough. Grateful beyond words to everyone who puts themselves forward for public service. #OnYourSide 🌹

@nicolelampert A rabbi friend gave me good advice, she said always bet on the rider, not on the horse. My ward councillors have done good work, and I'm pleased they are re-elected. Happily the predicted Green tsunami hasn't happened and didn't reached the ward that includes my Liberal shul.

I’ve got a few councillor friends who have lost their roles - others are waiting on tenterhooks. Politics is the most brutal job of all. Their hard work on behalf of constituents is ignored as voters are pulled by prevailing winds. I’d like to thank them for their service.

Thanks for having me on earlier @JuliaHB1 to talk about antisemitism. The planned march is now a static demo for safety reasons (the same safety reasons we discussed on @TalkTV). It will be on Sunday at 1pm outside Downing Street.
