I memorize common phrases when learning languages. For example, yesterday I memorized responses to common questions I'm asked in Mandarin. I usually fumble these questions, despite the fluency I have. Now I'll be less likely to make mistakes when asked those questions. #langtwt

Can you relate to this? Despite being quite fluent in Mandarin, I can still get nervous when speaking. One reason is that I’m not always able to express precisely what I would like to say. A part of me is afraid I’ll freeze up if I can’t find a synonym on the spot. #langtwt

@PolyglotAzren Those are good tips and easy things to work on. And definitely two mistakes I frequently make.

I taught a student who made lots of grammar mistakes when talking. These 2 easy changes helped her speak more accurately: 1. Speak in short sentences 2. Focus on getting the "I" and "you" conjugations correct #langtwt
