Happy 73rd Birthday, Monte Jackson! #Rams and #Raiders Cornerback A second-round selection out of San Diego State in 1975, Monte earned All-Rookie honors in L.A. His 1976 season was HUGE — an NFL-leading 10 interceptions, a #RamsHouse single-season record three pick-sixes, and Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro nods. After a Pro Bowl and Second-Team All-Pro season in '77, Jackson held out and was then traded to Oakland for a haul. He would spend five seasons with the Raiders and was a member of their Super Bowl XV championship squad.

"The Tooz!" Many may not know this, but former Oakland #Raiders legendary star Defensive End, John Matuszak competed at age 27 in the 1978 World's Strongest Man competition. The event was held in Hollywood, California at Universal Studios, and Matuszak finished in ninth place. OTD in 1935…. The shocking death of Mose Kelsch A fan favorite of the Steelers (then known as the Pirates), Kelsch succumbs to injuries suffered in a car accident. Kelsch was a kicker who sometimes doubled as a fullback, the position where he had previously starred for multiple independent teams during the 1920’s. Considered by many to be the first kicking specialist in the NFL, Kelsch was 38 years old at the time of his death, older than Art Rooney whom he had previously played with and against and with whom he obviously played for from 1933-34. Kelsch’s popularity overwhelmed his funeral services in Wexford as several hundred people attended to bid farewell to the football star. ⬇️ For more, here’s an article from the day after his passing by Chester L.
