Over 60% of Ireland’s land is used for agriculture. That’s what I’d call Big Agri. A cull alone won’t solve the problem, but alongside fair payments to farmers for restoring nature, it could be a win for everyone.

@chris_byrne There are a lot of issues with the current plan. Perhaps the biggest issue is the 2040 completion date.

There are plenty of real issues with the Cork LUAS plan (low capacity, odd routing, & too much mixing with traffic, to name a few). A pub being demolished (with compensation!) isn’t one of them. Let’s focus on the actual problems and the many positives. My letter in today's IT.

On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titantic, I find it ironic that like the rather than learn from other man made disasters, our government with @DarraghOBrienTD at the helm has decided to let us sink rather than adding lifeboats or avoiding the iceberg altogether....

We did mention we had news? We've just acquired all of the Sheanadh Gharráin woods east of the Bhoth Loiscthe River in the Connemara Gaeltacht. 35 acres of rainforest awesomeness are now protected, plus 47 acres of space for them to stretch into !

@OlaLN Dunno about you, but I don't put a diagonal line across my lower case 'o' and then try and explain the English language to a native speaker. For the hard of thinking: pedestrians are non drivers. So, some non-drivers do get a dedicated sliver of space.

@OlaLN What are you talking about? Pedestrians have a sliver of space. Drivers, horse-riders, traction engines, and maniacal pedallists all share the rest of the space.

@OlaLN The picture shows a cyclist happily coexisting with cars. It is a falsehood to claim that you would be adding a bike lane. What you will be doing is subtracting from over a road space a section for exclusive views. Nothing is being added and is never added in most circumstances.
