A sad day, seeing the stocks coming down. A necessary step though as the wood is severely rotting and the lamination is failing in places too where water is getting in. Work continues to make the mill safe before we can start to move forwards again with restoration.

For anybody hoping to visit Old Buckenham mill today, please note that our scheduled openings are cancelled for the rest of this year due to ongoing maintenance on the tower brickwork. We hope to re-open in spring 2019.

Yesterday was a sad day - the fantail has become unsafe as it has shed some rotten timber - following a millwright survey we have been forced to remove it completely to prevent risk to nearby neighbours. The millwright will be back next week to complete the removal.

Lovely day on the broads. Stumbled across @NfkWindmills Boardman’s mill. A skeleton mill - an alternative to brick tower mills.

We do need to execute some repair work before we can re-open to the public. That means that unfortunately we have to cancel both August and September open days. We'll just have to make sure we get everything sorted and come back better than ever for the beginning of next season!

When you reach the ripe old age of 200, sometimes you need a little bit of attention. We’re seeing some movement in the mill’s brickwork so we have taken the precautionary measure of closing while a survey takes place. We hope to re-open again soon and will post updates here.
