@ThrillaRilla369 Depends how you were treated as a child. Abused, neglected or made to feel worthless? No way.

@ShakeLS If Trump rolled his eyes at Meghan, she should be proud of it. And Charles's visit was a propaganda victory for the fascist Trump - and therefore wrong, even a disgrace, even if Charles did give the right speech.

This poor seedy boy is Onslow. I'd seen him on the cameras for 2 nights, racing though my garden, barely stopping long enough to eat.
I'd sampled a poo he'd left and it was full of deadly fluke eggs, so I was very happy to catch him at 2.30 this morning, by setting driveway alarms to wake me to his presence.
Fluke is a parasitic worm that infects the bile ducts and liver, causing chronic painful inflammation and liver damage, and eventual death if not treated.
Hedgehogs get fluke by either being forced through starvation to eat the intermediate hosts (such as slugs and snails, which carry the parasite), or from drinking contaminated water.
Please do ensure you keep all outside food and water dishes as clean as you would your own dinnerware.
Standing water is dangerous. Always refresh daily.
I've seen very kind people leave out water with pebbles in, for insects to access.
Unfortunately they tend not to change and wash this daily, so it's a magnet for all sorts of microscopic pathogens, including fluke and mosquito-borne diseases.
So to make insect drinkers easier to clean, a shallow dish of water with some floating leaves, or a half submerged stick, or a single large stone, is much safer.
Fluke is extremely painful and the hedgehog, without the perspicacity to know the source of the torment they are suffering is inside them, tries to run from the pain.
I often get calls from the public saying they have seen a hedgehog out in the day for a couple of days but, "I think he's okay - he's not lethargic or sunbathing like in that poster, he's running around quite happily!"
They are devastated to learn that the 'happily racing around' hedgehog they've seen for a couple of days was actually running to escape pure agony.
Poor darling Onslow has had his first fluke treatment this morning, along with the critical antibiotic cover and pain relief, and is now sleeping peacefully, probably for the first time in days.❤️
