@minchoi @paultrillo @OpenAI As much as I love completely surreal art, something about it being generated makes it feel so much less impressive. Feels more arbitrary. Surrealist oil paintings are more interesting and inspiring to view. Not hating, it’s still cool. Just not as memorable.

Usually marketed wrongly to the wrong potential markets, thus a graveyard of early adoptions that while many were correct ideas and designs, they die due to “ engine maker “ control and ego.

@LarryRosenthal @iBrews @rabovitz Yeah, by connecting them with real places and using engines to manage real life space, you get the best of both worlds. Foot traffic is fun and feels more authentic and catches people off guard in a good way.

@iBrews @rabovitz We were very lucky back then. Nothing happens like that now sadly. XR manufacturers no longer go full force into letting creatives and artists pave the way or form those cool public intersection opportunities. They kind of went the other way, only digital, no real world.

this 6-part, 2.5 hour Houdini tutorial incl. procedural architecture, clouds and terrain was entirely created by a SideFX *intern*, which, damn. My unpaid internships mostly consisted of dumb fetch quests

@OldestThingEver personally... I prefer text usually over audio!? bc I want to listen to music OR give my ears a break. But it's a neat concept and I'm sure it will work well for some people.

@michael_nielsen Always wear sneakers or hiking boots, that was the lesson. There’s a famous church with sacred dirt you can take home people walk to. We sadly made it an hour after it closed, so we just stuck our feet in the river, hung out, and had a friend pick us up to return home.

@michael_nielsen Santa Fe to Chimayo. In college. Left at 4am with friends after a party. Took us 16 hours 😅 My feet were bleeding by the end. We only finished because we ate chocolate mushrooms, which we took 1/4 way in, which acted like a pain killer. Happy we did it, but never again.

@minchoi @cso4x Totally! Computational approaches applied to #anything are fun. I’m noting where I see the quality bar present day. Nothing to write home about yet, but excited for the tools that emerge later on. Right now it’s “off-brand audio jungle” tomorrow maybe something on radio.
