@dan_taylor12 Whilst I believe there should be three up, the game they are referring to as the biggest match in National League history today would be a run of the mill game between two already promoted clubs if there was. Today is actually a perfect advert for leaving it as it is.

@TonyIncenzo Completely agree. The Pontins League was great for developing youngsters and reintegrating injured players. I remember watching OAFC res v LFC res at Bower Fold, Stalybridge & a young kid for Liverpool looking out of his depth but somehow scoring a hat-trick. It was Michael Owen

BRING BACK PROPER RESERVE TEAM FOOTBALL! Yesterday I saw a player return from injury after 3 months out. He was given 20 minutes having not played any football. In the past, players in that situation would have had two or three reserve games before going into the first team

A very frustrating game today. As poor as we have played in some time, though I still didn't feel we deserved to lose. The ref was out of her depth. The "goal" at the start of the 2nd half wasn't even in doubt. I think that's the play-offs gone but hope to be proven wrong. #oafc

Harrogate went out of the way to wind up Mikey today. Two years ago he 100% gets himself sent off but he's now able to ignore it. #oafc

@oafc_prozac I thought that Fondop holding the ball until the reserve keeper came on, meaning the prep time he had was spent on him rather than Stevens was genius

Yesterday's effort was Fondop's 49th goal for the club. If he'd converted the pen that would have been his 50th - Right decision to let Stevens take it. It was never in doubt #OAFC

Micky Mellon equalises for Rovers vs Oldham in the 88th minute, as Tranmere come back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw on 1st September 2001.

@alfcorazzin @L2_Owl_Oafc He isn't just an employee, he's an asset with a (potential) value. It would be remiss of the club to risk that value being depleted by him getting jailed.

@L2_Owl_Oafc For me that’s ridiculous. He’s a 25yr who works has a family and a baby on the way. Why is that any different to any other job? He did the crime and went to court without the club holding his hand, so why should they start getting involved in him not managing his time properly?

Not wanting/expecting the club to get involved to have ensured Drummond delivered his community order is just wrong Wanting government money for community based projects and club expansion, while turning a blind eye to this stuff is a terrible look. Just my opinion. #oafc

@MikeKeegan_DM One of my all time favourite games. Always loved Neil Adams. That only increased tenfold that night. I'm not good with dates but 9-3-93 is always there

@jjreade @GabSutton Yes, but I suspect that York would put in a claim that they would have fancied their chances of beating us had they not had a 2 week break whilst we had never stopped. Obviously that would just be sour grapes as we were clearly the better team all season 😉

@Oldham_Mark @GabSutton To be fair, we would have been in a 4-team playoff competition had it still been that way in the NL...

I worry that football is running away from sporting merit, and towards entertainment for entertainment’s sake. Giving a team that finishes 8th over 46 games the chance to win promotion really devalues the league. It’s like saying the Championship’s not good enough to stand up on its own merit, it needs these wacky twists. This is serious competition, that people have trained their whole lives for. Yes, parts of it are less exciting than others, but you need to go through those parts in order for the big Jimmy Glass, Coppinger, Deeney moments to really mean something. If you want uninterrupted drama, watch a soap opera. This is our game and we take it seriously - that’s precisely why those moments matter.

@jjreade @GabSutton We discovered to our benefit last season that adding eliminators can actually hand a momentum advantage to those who have to enter the eliminators compared to those who go straight to the semis. That doesn't feel right, even if it was fantastic for us.

@GabSutton I'm sure these exact sentiments were aired in the mid 1980s when the whacky playoffs were introduced. It's safe to say they've been a success. Adding two more teams and a couple of eliminator matches is hardly much of a tweak compared to that.

@Roughyeds Last week he was stepping to one side so that it wasn't all about him. This week he's putting out 15 minute videos criticising the people of Oldham and those making genuine improvements at the football club.
