This sentence needs amplification until someone with the power to curb OFSTED’s wrong headed policies takes heed, or puts it out of its (everyone’s)misery ‘Ofsted’s system has zero credibility if it continues to punish schools who do the right thing rather than game the system.’
Old Primary Head@Oldprimaryhead1

This makes last weeks speech by Mr O even harder to take. Shame schools working hard under massive challenge. Ofsted’s system has zero credibility if it continues to punish schools who do the right thing rather than game the system.

This should be screaming at us. The ‘quiet curse’ is not schools over loaded with pupils other schools do not serve, or facing the direct impact of poverty and inequity. The curse is the ease with which a school does not serve its direct community, or discourages admission.
Comprehensive Future@comp_future

When league tables reward results over inclusion, schools respond. The result? Fewer disadvantaged SEND pupils in top schools. Schools should reflect their communities not 'manage' who applies. #FairAdmissions #SEND theguardian.com/education/2026…

Schools with higher prior attainment are converting their QE grades to achievement much more successfully.

🚨 NEW: Top performing secondary schools are effectively shutting out disadvantaged pupils with special educational needs. Our new polling suggests this is often a deliberate strategy to limit the numbers of these pupils coming through their school gates 🧵⤵️

The @suttontrust finding coupled with how @Ofstednews framework is slamming disadvantaged and inclusive schools is a storm about to rage. A non-inclusive system encouraged and praised by accountability measures that reward creating cultures where not all are welcome.

I know this is the tactic some schools use because I've spoken to parents who had this conversation with the Head: 'we don't make excuses and everyone is treated the same'. It's code for 'your child will last 5 minutes'.

32% of school leaders also believe parents’ perceptions of a school’s approach to behaviour help explain the different intakes of pupils with SEND. For example, a school that’s considered to be particularly strict might be seen as unsuitable for their children with SEND.

If inclusion is not properly understood across the sector, there is a risk that the government’s planned inclusion bases will turn into a subtle form of exclusion, writes Thomas Keaney tes.com/magazine/analy…

Well this is worrying. We are in desperate need of headteachers, and headteachers who want to stay in the role.
