Sophomore fellow Nya Thompson said this about the importance of the event, “The stigma around special needs, especially special needs children in general, needs to have more awareness. So I think this will just bring us more together.”

A big thank you to all of our fellows who participated in the 7th annual Buddy Walk last weekend💛💙 Hosted by 21 United of Mississippi, the Buddy Walk aims to spread awareness and provide services for those affected by Down syndrome.

We’d like to congratulate our fellows who were recently inducted into @phikappaphi, the nation’s oldest multidisciplinary honor society! We’re so proud to see these students get recognized for their outstanding academic performances🌟

🌟Current grad student and member of the 3rd cohort Carly Rock wrote an article about her experience working with her chemistry professor and mentor, Dr. Greg Tschumper.

🌟Recent graduate Reann Parker’s capstone thesis is also featured. Reann wrote a young-adult novel titled 20 Things which is a coming-of-age story about a girl named Halle’s journey to recovery.

We’re shouting out several spectacular fellows for this week’s #fellowfriday! The Honors College recently released their annual Honors Report, and multiple METP members were featured for their service and work within the Honors College.

METP grad Hannah Farnlacher was featured on Dr. Joel Amidon and Dr. Ann Monroe's podcast The Teacher's Journey: Mile Markers on the Road to Better Teaching. Here Hannah talks about a moment where she assumed the role of teacher and how that influenced her classroom interactions

When asked about her experience in METP, Anna Grace said, “I love the way METP fosters a community for its members right off the bat. I feel like my cohort has been able to support each other academically and socially as we’ve gone through these last two years together!”
