One more European country is now better protected from Russian evil. Sweden is joining NATO. Everyone benefits when one country's security improves and that country can truly strengthen shared security. This rule has consistently worked throughout NATO's existence, and I am confident it will continue to work. Right now, in the midst of Russian aggression against everything that has kept Europe peaceful and united, everyone understands how critical it is to maintain alliances and partnerships, strengthen one's own security, and care for the security of one's neighbors. Sweden is a strong ally and a trustworthy country. I congratulate everyone in Sweden and across the Euro-Atlantic space. Ukraine has always been principled in its support for Sweden's NATO membership, and I am grateful to Sweden for its support for our country. I am confident that the day will come when Sweden will be able to congratulate Ukraine on joining the Alliance. We are always stronger when we are together.

Today, a significant part of Ukraine is suffering exceptionally severe weather conditions.   We must be especially grateful to all those who defend our country and carry out offensive operations in such harsh conditions. In the Donetsk and Kupyansk directions, intense fighting does not halt for an hour. Our warriors also continue to hold their positions in the south, in the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.   I am grateful to everyone who rightly responds to Russian terrorist strikes and those who repel Russian attacks now, in such weather conditions.

Ukraine has come a long way—from the point when no one believed Ukraine could get closer to the EU during a full-scale war—to achieving EU candidate status in record time and fulfilling recommendations required to open EU accession talks.   This demonstrates that Ukraine is capable of great things when we work together, with confidence, and in the interests of our independence and all Ukrainians.   We continue to transform our state so that we are truly prepared to become a full-fledged EU member and to conform all of our institutions and norms to European rules.

We value our Europe. Europe of cooperation, not disagreements. Europe of people, not ideologies. Because this is the only way our continent can protect human lives in European countries and around the world. I am certain that Ukraine will make our Europe stronger than ever before. And we are working tirelessly to guarantee that there are no remaining barriers to our EU accession. I am also confident that, regardless of developments anywhere in the world, including our partner countries, America, or elsewhere, unity will prevail. Not division, but unity. Not calls for self-isolation, but unity.

We all need to be realistic about the Russian system. They have mobilized all forces in order not to lose the territory they have seized in Ukraine, but they have also contaminated their own territory with such a level of hatred and degradation that events in Russia have spun out of control for the second time this year.   First, mutineers marched on Moscow with no one stopping them. Then, the power vertical in Dagestan evaporated, and a true pogrom happened. These are all indications that Russia can, for the time being—and only for the time being!—sustain combat action and, at times, raise pressure on the frontline, but it will not be able to withstand this confrontation strategically.   Strategically, we must all be strong and united. We must make strides to persevere, return what is ours, and prove that freedom is certainly stronger than hatred and aggression. To do so, we need unity. Our unity in Ukraine, the unity of Europe, the unity of America, the unity of the entire free world. Unity is the most effective, precise, and long-range weapon.

Our enemy is not an easy one, and it won’t be easier. But Ukraine must—and will—become stronger. So that the Russian empire never returns to our land. Today, I thank the US and Denmark for their aid. Freedom's enemies must not think that its defense cannot endure a marathon.
