In today's a fractured strategic environment, each node of the global economy – be it a shipping corridor or a data platform – becomes a new potential front line for great-power conflict, warns @CarlaNorrlof. "Weaponized interdependencies will splinter global trade into rival blocs, undermining the ties that drove unprecedented prosperity gains for billions of people in recent decades." (bit.ly/4iCChlg)

After Assad's collapse, Syria’s new HTS-led order offers the US a choice: keep bombing & sanctioning—or engage diplomatically, and push for inclusive governance. Time to pivot from hostility to partnership, and let Syrians reclaim their destiny @ProSyn project-syndicate.org/commentary/syr…

A mathematical wonder: both CAD/USD and USD/CAD exchange rates are down at the same time on msn.com

The people of Odesa waking today to devastation after Russians sent drones equipped with thermobaric warheads onto apartment buildings all over the city. Russia no longer seems to have interest in military targets, pure attempts to terrorize the civilian population.

@polidemitolog The message is not “don’t run women,” the message is have an honest conversation about sexism, stop pretending it doesn’t exist, and develop strategies on how to fight it, e.g. education and other incentives.

The sexism is certainly there, racism as well. The gap may explain it. The defeat on the elections wasn't decided on that alone. If it were, then the message will be - don't let women be candidates, Black women especially. I don't think that should be the message. With the strategic shifting of the Democratic Party to the center right on social values and center left on the economy, a female candidate could win.

Still waiting for someone to explain to me why men are more worried about inflation than women.

Still seeing "Harris couldn't turn out millions of Biden voters," and the count in swing states says that's not true. In Wisconsin, Harris got 37k more votes than Biden. The most votes of any Dem candidate since Obama in 2008. She lost bc Trump added 77k more votes since 2020.

@nataliemj10 Yes, but there is an underlying reason why swings are correlated. I wonder if it happens more when one of the candidates is a woman.
