Arsenal most likely may win the league. The team has benefited from the faltering of their major rivals this season(exactly how Leicester won the title). But truly, we have a coach who prefers passing sideways and backwards to building an attack minded team. Most of our goals have come from set-pieces and own goals. Players are chosen on the basis of running around in circles instead of creating chances. Eberechi Eze looks completely demotivated. I hope Arteta will not inflict on him the same virus he used in dealing with Ozil, Auba, Pepe and Guendouzi. He bought Gyokeres but has not bothered to play to his strengths as a lethal striker. Arsenal has a great team, but the manager needs to allow his players to be more creative and attack minded.

BACK TO DUBAI In 2006, after the burial of my beloved Aunty and foster mother, Lady Ann Onama Orjiako(Nee Metuh), I came to Dubai for the very first time. I promised my wife that I will start a futuristic business on that trip. Six(6) months later, I opened an entire building in the heart of maitama, exclusively dedicated to selling Dubai properties only. In 3yrs, we set the pace and more than exceeded the financial expectations of our clients, associates and investors. Unfortunately, I closed that business in 2009 on count of being politically exposed as an elected National Vice-Chairman of the then ruling party. Yesterday, I signed a fresh agreement to bring Dubai to Nigeria once again.... We promise the best return of rental yields and higher return on investments. May God bless our endeavours this new year 🙏

I Have Forgiven All Those Who Wronged Me – Olisa Metuh Former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, has called for greater tolerance, national healing and a more inclusive democratic culture as he marks his 60th birthday. Speaking during a media parley at his residence ahead of the celebrations, Metuh said turning 60 had given him fresh perspective on life, leadership and the future of Nigeria’s democracy. He recounted personal experiences, including past challenges, trials and health scares, but said he had chosen gratitude, forgiveness and service as the defining themes of his new chapter. Metuh, who has survived multiple life-threatening incidents since the early 1990s, described his journey as evidence of God’s mercy. “At each point when I faced difficulties, God saved me. If God has forgiven me and granted me life up to 60, why can’t I forgive others?” he said. He disclosed that his birthday activities this week are focused on charity, including support for widows, persons living with disabilities, inmates, aged citizens, artisans and small business starter “It is not about parties and whisky. It is about touching lives. What matters is how many people we have helped,” he said. On national issues, Metuh urged leaders and citizens to embrace tolerance and forbearance in public discourse, especially on social media. He said democracy flourishes when dissent is allowed and when the younger generation is not criminalised for expressing opinions. According to him, “We must be more accommodating of our young people in the new media space. Criticism should not lead to arrests. Let us tolerate one another for the sake of nation-building.” He also restated that the controversial N400 million for which he was previously prosecuted was not campaign money but part of a presidential-approved initiative to counter insurgency narratives. He said the report of the assignment was duly submitted and acknowledged by key officials of the former administration. Metuh said he had forgiven all individuals and institutions involved in his ordeal, including the EFCC, the judge, prosecutors, and sections of the media who participated in what he described as “media trial.” Speaking on political participation, he hinted at a return to active engagement after his birthday, noting that he remains “deeply invested” in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions. On constitutional reforms, Metuh advocated a single five- or six-year tenure for presidents and governors, with rotational presidency across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. He argued that such an arrangement would reduce tension and deepen national cohesion. He also urged opposition parties—including the PDP, Labour Party, ADC and YPP—to rise to their responsibilities by holding the government accountable strictly on policies and programmes. He recalled that during his tenure as PDP spokesman, the opposition played a stronger role in strengthening democratic checks. Metuh further revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu once reached out to him during his health challenges despite their past political clashes, describing the gesture as a lesson in tolerance and statesmanship. Responding to a question on the detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, Metuh acknowledged their personal friendship and said quiet engagements with government officials are ongoing, expressing hope for a positive outcome. As he steps into a new decade, Metuh said his focus remains service, charity and promoting unity. “Let us love one another. Let us help our fellow citizens. That is what truly matters,” he said. -Leadership Newspapers leadership.ng/i-have-forgive…

GOVERNORS AND LEGACIES. Watching yesterday's match at the Uyo stadium was an awakening on the LEGACIES of leadership. Funnily, some imported politics into achievements and legacies. Since 1999, we have had about 146 governors, and most of them left without having any enduring legacy. Truly, some governors left human development or bred a new set of leadership, while others left outstanding projects as achievements. You can not deny Chimaroke Nnamani his own legacy as all the governors of Enugu state, including the present one, were discovered, nurtured, and bred politically by him, personally. My state, Anambra, has been quite lucky. We had Mbadinuju, who left a legacy of politics without bitterness. The kindness and love he imported into governance have sustained the state to be one of the few with zero political violence. Ngige left a legacy of good roads; Peter Obi left a legacy of transparency and accountability in governance besides his massive impact in education. Obiano built the Anambra airport, and Soludo is making a great impact in infrastructure as well as accountability. The Uyo stadium is the best and about the only international stadium in Nigeria. It is indeed an uncommon legacy by an uncommon governor who changed the image and the fortunes of his people. I have no interest whatsoever in the present political trajectory of Akpabio, and I really do not give a hoot.

MY 60TH BIRTHDAY - million little miracles. In 1992, I had a serious car accident (doing 200 kph in a car and ending up with multiple broken ribs). In 1996, I was shot by armed robbers while driving a car with my mum, my wife, and my 5-month-old son all in the car. An emergency operation in Havannah hospital, Lagos saved my life as the bullet was removed while lying at the tip of my heart. When I got to the U.K. for further treatment, I learnt that if I had sneezed heavily, I would have died immediately. In 2016, I was arrested and faced a massive state-sponsored persecution on trumped-up charges, backed by a well-funded media trial. In 2020, I was sent to prison in one of the most ridiculous judgments ever given in the courts of Nigeria. By the special grace of God, that judgment was overturned on appeal, and I became a free man that same year. In November of this year, I will celebrate my 60th birthday. Indeed, I have lived a life of survival due to millions of little miracles from God. The birthday planning committee has come up with a budget running into multiples of 9 figures to have a massive party. But how can I spend so much of the money contributed by my friends on party venue, decorations, food, and drinks for the rich? I have chosen to thank God for His million miracles in my life by mostly giving back to society and those in greater need. I have, therefore, decided to mark my 60 years on earth by: 1. Building a well-equipped skill acquisition center in Nnewi prisons. 2. Building a well-equipped skill acquisition center in Ebonyi state. 3. Donating N60,000 each to 1,000 (one thousand) persons. 4. Giving the sum of N1 million each to 60 persons in small-scale businesses. 5. Donating money to some universities as endowments for academic excellence in particular disciplines. I will, however, have a mini praise and worship session in my house on the evening and night of my birthday. The Thanksgiving ceremony will be jointly celebrated at Guiding Light Assembly, Abuja, and St. Peter Clavers Church, Otolo, Nnewi, on Sunday, 30th November. I thank my friends who have contributed massively to my birthday celebration. May the Almighty God reward them exceedingly. I thank God for His mercies and His loving kindness, always. (Note today is not my birthday)

Being an inmate in a prison comes with physical, psychological, health and financial challenges. Having access to recreational facilities and participating in sporting activities helps to serve as useful diversions from the stress of such confinement. 5yrs ago I promised the inmates of Kuje prison that I will keep sponsoring football and sports competitions each year. This promise, has been inherited by my wife's foundation on prison reforms and welfare of inmates, THE LEGEND GOLDEN CARE FOUNDATION. Today, the Chairman of the house committee on reformatory services, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Ogar was the special guest of honour as I represented my wife at the opening ceremony of this year's competition. The FCT controller, ACG Ajibogun Olatubosun and the incharge of kuje prison were on hand to receive the special guest of honour. To make promises is not difficult, but keeping them is not quite easy. TO GOD ALONE BE THE GLORY.
