@patrickhealynyt It’s hard to overstate my disappointment in the NYT, and the doubt this creates for readers like me Is thus another “But Her Emails” and a bad decision, or is there real bias at play? Either way, it’s a poor application of your own standards, and driving away readers

@patrickhealynyt You still don’t explain why the headline(s) continue to include two pieces of information (that he checked African and Asian boxes), but not the third, that, that he wrote in Ugandan The hed lies by omission. It’s sensationalist, feeds an anti-woke stereotype It’s Fox-like

As the @nytimes assistant managing editor for Standards and Trust, I’ve received reader feedback regarding our reporting on Zohran Mamdani’s 2009 application to Columbia University. To provide context on how the reporting came together, I wanted to share some information:

Every day I am shocked by the actions that Donald Trump and Elon Musk have taken. I know that their recklessness is causing real and harmful damage to our nation, but you don’t just have to take me at my word. You can see just a few of the many examples for yourself 🧵

I’m heading to the Senate floor because Donald Trump and Elon Musk have shown a complete disregard for the rule of law, the Constitution, and the needs of the American people. You can tune in on CSPAN, YouTube, X, and Facebook.

What a fiasco I'm 💯 for congestion pricing, was 💯 against @GovKathyHochul's plan No carve-outs for residents? West Side Highway/FDR free access? Cutoff at 60th St? All so arbitrary. Make it for 100% of Manhattan, 90% resident discount (like London) nytimes.com/2024/06/05/nyr…

@MTA Terrible descision. It levies an unfair tax on those who live in the zone - the wealthy won’t care, but those on a budget will be hit hard. Another blow to the middle class, another step towards turning Manhattan into a luxury product

It's a historic day: Today, the MTA Board voted to approve the toll rates for the nation's first congestion pricing program. This program will reduce traffic in Manhattan's central business district, reduce pollution, and provide critical funding for transit improvements.

Coffee People: What do you do when you order $62 worth of coffee, it never arrives, and the roaster started by two US Barista Champions says "ah well tough luck nothing we can do" + ghosts you?

@OliverStrand And roasters (incl. the one you're talking about here) aren't necessarily flush with cash, and returns, reshipments, lost packages are real costs for the business. I just think it's worth having some sympathy for them as well in this situation.

@alexkaplan0 Is it though? You're saying it's the consumer's responsibility for something they never touched or saw? That the seller packaged, labeled, insured, and shipped?

@OliverStrand What would you like them to do in this situation? Take the loss as a business? I think it’s tough either way.

@fac23head You reply to ask for clarification and hear nothing back You find a phone number and call it, nothing You DM on Insta, nothing You did nothing wrong: You ordered + paid. But now you have no coffee, no refund, no recourse In other words, Twitter was the 4th move, not the 1st

@fac23head Let's say you had a long day working in a creative industry that's not well-paid but well-intentioned You just helped your 88-y-o mother figure out some web stuff Then you open an email that not only says you won't get the coffee you ordered, you're still going to be charged

@OliverStrand If they're using Shopify for their webstore, all orders are insured and they have no reason not to replace the order!

New question for coffee people: When you buy coffee on the web is the roaster responsible for shipping mishaps? And they should replace lost/damaged coffee? Or is it on the buyer? And you assume 100% of the risk the moment you click PURCHASE?
