AFTER THE LOSS OF MY THREE FRIENDS…….. The last few years have been challenging as I lost three close ‘friends’, a lady and two men in quick succession. Three others are still battling with debilitating diseases like cancer, and may the Lord heal them. It came like a wind and blew my very close childhood friends away. It changed me forever. It affected how I see this life.  You see, I have been traveling just to be alone for meditation and to think deeply on these issues. I am formulating how to spend the rest of my life. I am in my 60s and no longer young. Anyone who tries to create chaos in my life will be treated like an enemy. Why do I say that? When my three close friends died, everyone moved on with their lives. No one dies with the dead. Some people tried to grab what they could of their assets, sometimes without mercy. They were hardworking and dedicated people who did not enjoy the fruits of their labour. So, I learnt that if you don’t enjoy your money, you will be the loser. I hope this message finds you. If you die, you die for nothing. Do not say you are working for anyone; believe me, they will be okay without you, but they won’t mind enjoying the fruits of your foolishness.  Where does this leave you and me? Work hard but (ma lo suegbe). Do not be foolish. Take care of your family, but also look after yourself very well. Check up on your health regularly. If they had detected what was wrong with you early, they might have been able to help you, but for my friends, it was too late. Take exercise and diet seriously. Everyone should not be exercising around you, but you only go to work, make money, put on weight, sleep, and go to work again. Do not wait until they put you in what is called a ‘side room’ in the hospital, and you cannot go home forever. The pattern is the same. Admission, side room, death, the mortuary, and leaving relatives to be in pain.  Set boundaries. If anyone is trying to cause you stress, let them be. There are millions of people in the world that you can relate to. Do not die because of that one unreasonable and irrational person. They are probably planning how they will spend your money if something happens to you and they want you out of the way quickly. Believe me, as a lawyer, a pastor, and an elder. I am speaking in parables, but they are real-life stories being shared in disguise.  Take a break regularly. Go on holiday, rest, and put that phone away. Do not wait until the doctors say you can’t go home again. Those who are always taking your time, either through gossip or social media, will forget you if you die.  Finally, serve the Lord faithfully, pray and fast regularly. Enemies are always fashioning weapons. Some that we classified as sickness and diseases are the seeds sown by the wicked when the Son of Man slept. Don’t wait until it happens to you before you understand my message. The Lord can help and protect us if we call on him now. Do not wait until the dying minute before you start calling all the pastors, prophets, joining all prayer lines, and soothsayers to help you. It is late, it is late.  I miss my three ‘friends’ and may their souls rest in peace. For us who are left, may the Lord prolong our lives.  My name is Dele Olawanle. I am a coach.
