The Rock doesn't deserve the hate that he is receiving from the fans here.
WRESTLEMANIA 40 had the potential to be the greatest WrestleMania of all time, but things changed. Punk got injured, Brock Lesnar got benoitified. We needed some star power for the show. IT'S WRESTLEMANIA, not some random PLE.
The Rock really stepped up to save this Mania from being a disaster, and he's giving us the match that WRESTLING FANS ALWAYS WANTED: Rock vs. Roman. The Rock is a multimillionaire, he doesn't need to do this, but he is doing it for the love of the game. His intentions were never to "steal" Cody's moment.
I completely understand the criticism of the booking and the way WWE presented Cody here, but WWE hasn't even said anything about the match yet. You all are really hating the person on the basis of rumors that are being spread by dirtsheets. It's okay to criticize, but some of y'all are really going out of the way and wishing injury on him. This is weirdo behavior.
THE ROCK IS A LEGEND. Respect Him.

I don't like what I am reading this morning. This is all Rock's doing with backing of TKO Executives. They legit low balled Cody Rhodes. It just reads as slimey as anyone but he puts on a facade as "the nice guy on camera"...this whole thing reeks of something bad.
They are using it to pivot away from the Vince McMahon stuff. They are doing it to "save WrestleMania, and Rock has even brought in his own creative team in Brian Gerwitz.
I hope this blows up in their face, and the match is fucking sabotaged at WrestleMania.

In WWE, there isn’t going to be anyone that’s not going to at least consider The Rock’s ideas. This wasn’t done to target and politic Cody Rhodes out of his main event out of malice, but out of the belief that Johnson was the best idea to make money now and respect his new position with the company’s parent company. This was a strategic move to give Johnson more political power overall and to show Endeavor’s faith in his involvement and that even Paul “Triple H” Levesque would "lose that power struggle with Johnson at this point", as one source surmised.
