@FanlessTech @nephinatic Thanks for asking! The SoC's low power (7W) allows it to be cooled without fins. Assuming even light airflow, natural convection from the flat lid is sufficient. The chassis has vents to allow some airflow which also aids in the ability to cool passively.

It was so over… and now it looks like we’re back. Tracked Bob’s mystery reboots down to the ESP32 firmware. The shameful culprit: me, not explicitly declaring a PULLUP on a FET gate GPIO. That left the pin floating, and @KenCondon1 will never let me live this down. What makes no sense is why it ran 50 days submerged in wax just fine, only to freak out once at sea. But the test was clean: add the one line → reboots gone. Remove it → chaos returns. Fairly conclusive. Now the ESP32 + Iridium go through 50 boot cycles before I call it fixed. The Amazon sous vide was too smart to heat wax (shut itself down immediately, needed conductivity of water), so I had to dig my way to the board with spoons and a heat gun like some deranged paleontologist. Relaunch window: next weekend.
