There’s a solid idea buried in this thesis, but it’s wrapped in a very “future narrative” framing that blurs what’s real today versus what’s still speculative. @Allbridge_io @avelykyy The core argument is actually reasonable: Crypto attention cycles are the noisy memecoins, short-term trading, hype rotations but long-term value may accrue to infrastructure, especially interoperability layers to connecting fragmented chains. That part makes sense. Crypto is increasingly multi-chain, not single-chain dominant. Liquidity is fragmented, users are spread across ecosystems, and interoperability protocols solve a real coordination problem. But the leap from “important infrastructure” to “future highways of the digital economy” is where things become less grounded. A few assumptions are doing heavy lifting here: > AI agents autonomously moving capital > Seamless onboarding across chains for millions of users > Interoperability becoming the dominant value capture layer All plausible. None guaranteed. Each comes with major unresolved friction: AI-driven capital movement introduces serious security, governance, and regulatory risk. Cross-chain UX is improving, but bridges remain one of crypto’s biggest historical attack surfaces. And most importantly: Interoperability is a feature not automatically a monopoly layer. In tech history, connector layers often become the highly competitive and eventually commoditized. Some infrastructure becomes the invisible plumbing with thin margins. Only a few protocols ever become the true standards capable of extracting durable toll-like economics. That’s the real question here: Which interoperability models minimize trust assumptions the best? Which protocols become embedded defaults across wallets, exchanges, and apps? And can any player actually consolidate enough usage to capture long-term fees? Because crypto narratives rotate in cycles: Coins → Chains → Infrastructure → AI x Crypto Each cycle identifies something real. But markets consistently overestimate how concentrated the eventual value capture will be. So the stronger framing isn’t: “Interoperability will become the highway of crypto.” It’s: Interoperability will likely become essential infrastructure but most of it may end up as highly competitive, commoditized routing and messaging layers, while only a small number of protocols capture durable network effects. That distinction matters.
