It's #NationalPetDay and we are spoilt for choice in the archives! Here is Sarah Baillie-Hamilton, Countess of Haddington and her three Scottie Dogs. The Countess was an early patron of @onekindtweet and the three dogs often appeared in the charity's fundraising publications.

Our archivist would gladly do a series of videos reading out the names of these dogs because they are gorgeous and need to be said out loud!

Thinking of a name for a new dog? Why not consult the Tail-Waggers Club ledger! The Tail-Waggers Club raised money for @onekindtweet in the 1930s and donations were registered by dog name before owner. The archivist's personal favourite? "Keith"

That Friday feeling... This is one of the cover stars of 'The Animals' Friend'. A publication from the National Council for Animals' Welfare. These magazines contained light-hearted animal stories alongside animal rights campaigns. From @onekindtweet archive

A lot has changed @EdinburghZoo in the past 100 years, but the patch of grass at the front of the mansion house seems to have stayed the same. This image dates from the early 1920s and is from the @rzss archive.

In Conservation we are currently unframing a lot of @TheDickVet works that are in acidic window mounts. This will allow me to clean the works and put them in archival folders. Here is an extreme example, where the backing wood pattern has imprinted on the back of the mount board!

These are the quick sketches after 5-10 minutes (those penguins move fast)! Why not have a go sketching the nature around you? 🎨 (3 of 3)

Amid the buzz of the world, it is quite nice to take 5-10 minutes to sketch what you see around you -regardless of your own perceived sense of artistic ability- For our archivist at the zoo, the penguins were nearby (2 of 3)

Here is a photo of an art class taking place at @EdinburghZoo in 1929. They are sketching the @rzss famous penguins! Our archivist took some time out of her lunch break to replicate this image 🧵1 of 3

We love finding doodles in the margins! This wee profile sketch is from a 1919 @TheDickVet student's notebook. Our archivist is currently cataloguing lecture notes from 1844-1940s and is finding these treats along the way!

Like animals, sometimes books undergo back surgery. Project Conservator Mhairi Boyle has been learning the art of spine repair with Book Conservator Caroline Scharfenberg (ACR). Pictured is a volume from the @TheDickVet archives, soon to be reunited with its spine and boards.

It's #WorldAnimalDay and here is Roy. Roy comes from the @onekindtweet archive and he was the poster boy for the Dog's Bazaar in 1923. The Bazaar was a big fundraising event for OneKind, with money going towards saving animals from vivisection. Look at Roy's paw! Well done, Roy!
