Times must be tough when even @Tesco are cashing in those cans. 8 crates in total 😐 The lad in green hoody has 4 sacks. My wee lad would queue for days to use the machines with 6 bottles 😅🫤

@adriancummins @GordonRamsay @MichelinGuideUK Thanks Gordon. Irish cuisine and the food culture here is overlooked by so many. It shouldn't be a surprise to tourists etc that we have excellent food. It should be an expectation tbf.

Food business owners across the country speak out ahead of Budget Day. The hospitality sector, made up of 99.6% SMEs and employing 220,000 people in every town and village, is at breaking point. Rising costs are crippling businesses. Reinstating the 9% VAT rate is essential to help secure the future of the sector. Without it, the future of every food-led business is at serious risk. #Budget2026 #VAT9

Big Mike’s – A Closing Note Sunday was our last service at Big Mike’s This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. It feels like failure, but it isn’t. We’re proud of what we achieved, we shot for the stars, poured everything into it — heart, soul, sweat, tears, life savings, even the house deposit — but the brutal truth is the maths just don’t math anymore. The industry is facing unsurmountable challenges. We gave it our very best I’m proud of my team, grateful to our guests, suppliers and FWBs all of whom have been incredibly understanding. My final act as gaffer is to go to bat for my staff so they land safely in new homes and ensure they are fully supported. Many of them have been with me a long time and I’m determined to assist them moving forward. I’ve written a full note with all the details — regarding vouchers, reservations, a heartfelt thanks and what’s next…… You can read it here bigmikes.ie

@RAI_ie @PacinosDublin @BlindPigDublin @LittlePigDublin Well said Michael.Paying our workers properly has always been a priority but the reality is the model is broken due to costs everywhere being too high. Our minimum wage is the 2nd highest in the EU because everything is so expensive.Fix costa first then set pay rates accordingly

“We need help with our input costs — and government support can make the difference.” Michael Martin, owner of @PacinosDublin, @BlindPigDublin and @LittlePigDublin, and a long-standing member of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, speaks candidly about the real cost pressures restaurant owners face today. A proud RAI member for over 15 years, Michael echoes the call from food-led hospitality businesses: the 9% VAT rate must be reinstated on January 1st. From rising employer expenses to the true value of RAI membership, he shares honest insights: "The truth of the matter is, we all need somebody to represent us and in representing us then they fight for us and they have our corner."
