Today, at the Secretariat Headquarters of our great party, the PDP in Ilorin, we formally unveiled our gubernatorial Candidate, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu. This followed a series of meetings, consultations, and extensive discussions held day and night among myself, Prof. Ali Ahmad, Barr. Sheni Ibiwo, SAN, Alhaji Ladi Hassan, and Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu. Following the opportunity given to us by the leader of our party, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to collectively choose a candidate among ourselves, we reached a resolution earlier today and unanimously presented Engr. Kale Kawu as the consensus candidate. This decision reflects our collective will, and we remain committed to working together as one united family to deliver the choice of our party and the good people of Kwara State.

Today in Abuja, I observed Jummat prayers with some of our Kwarans, including three of our Kwara PDP gubernatorial aspirants — Engr. Kale Kawu, Prof. Ali Ahmad, and Alhaji Omar Bolaji Gambari. Afterwards, we had lunch at my home and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon together.

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 22, 2026 APC Kwara Governorship Election Committee Asserts Conduct of Transparent Primary Election Today The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has assured Kwara APC party members and stakeholders across the state of a free, fair, and transparent primary election scheduled to hold today, Friday, May 22, 2026. Voting materials will be distributed before Jumat Prayers and Voting will commence simultaneously in all the 16 local governments after Jumat Prayers. Senator Obanikoro stated that the committee is fully prepared to conduct the exercise in strict compliance with the directives of the APC National Headquarters and in accordance with established party guidelines. He disclosed that the committee held a strategic meeting with all governorship aspirants at the APC State Secretariat in Ilorin, where they were thoroughly briefed on the electoral processes. The engagement also provided an opportunity to address concerns raised by aspirants, ensuring an inclusive and transparent process. The Chairman noted that while efforts were made to encourage consensus among aspirants, the committee remains fully prepared to conduct a credible election should consensus not be reached. He emphasized that the committee is the only body duly authorized by the party and relevant laws to conduct, conclude, and report on the primary election. Senator Obanikoro further announced that designated Local Government Election Officers, appointed by the committee across all 16 local government areas of Kwara State, will converge to receive election materials and commence the voting process accordingly. He reiterated the committee’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and the overall success of the party, urging all stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and in the spirit of unity. Kwara APC in another confusion, as it stands Governor Abdulrahman has represented Danladi and dropped Seriki, at the end of the day, the Obanikoro led committee will implement the President’s directive as it was done for Rahman in 2018 but against Rahman’s wish this time around.
