@zachbussey @PosiTiffTV I've created one of these clip shoutouts myself, but it only picks from clips marked as Featured by the streamer. at least then it's ones they somewhat want shared instead of just embarassing or stupid clips.

Does all of this for the community, and the community in turn shits on him coz he thinks story skipping is fine to do endgame with friends if the story is not for you.
People can play an MMO however they want, no it is not 70% of the game.

So, I’m still catching up after the whole viral post thing about FFXIV. I turned off notifications days ago because my phone was vibrating harder than a hitachi wand and it was killing my battery and I have businesses to run LOL Thanks for the follows, the love, the hate, all of it. I checked what I could when I had spare moments and replied basically to what was right in front of my eyes. I love the game, have been into Final Fantasy since the mid 90s and even used to be a guide contributor on GameFAQs. If you’ve ever played a SCC or SSCC in FF Tactics, tried a No XP run in FF8, or gotten the early disc 2 ribbon in Gaea’s Cliff in FF7 you’ve probably used guides with my words in them. No I don’t skip any stories because I’m a lore junkie, but I will defend your right to do so if you just like the MMO portion of the game. I commentate Crystalline Conflict matches (follow @john_is_dead_ for Community Roulette, the best intro to light party PvP out there), yap for charity on the world race broadcasts, make memes on ShitpostXIV, and have been playing FFXIV since early Stormblood so yeah, sorry I’m a tourist and a general blight on the community. 🙃

Looking back at DT reviews, ProJared has to be my favourite. Not because it's a good review, but because it pisses off absolutely everyone. It shows him skipping cutscenes, while also suggesting a WoL-Wuk romance subplot would improve the story.

No shade to Snark, this has unintentionally become an amazing example of skipping.
If you only read the embed, you think it defends someone skipping themselves.
If you read the full, it also says FF14 should have an inbuilt skip.
It is it's own example of problems with skipping.

A person skipping is whatever, as long as they don't boast about it nobody knows.
But telling people to skip, or saying the game would be improved if skips were added is fucking stupid. The story is the core, it is required because it's the part devs want players to see the most

It’s 2026, we are gonna be 6 expansions deep into FFXIV soon. Can we stop with the weird gatekeepy behavior if someone doesn’t want to play through 250 hours of story to be able to play some of the best MMO raid encounters ever made? Heaven forbid someone asks you a small lore question if they start getting interested in the story after starting the game 10 years late. Are we really gonna keep driving people away with this weird NIMBY ritual? Just use your social skills (lol) and answer the small question, suggest they start a story alt on their downtime, or direct them to a synopsis video on YouTube. Crying about “story skippers” this deep into a game’s development cycle is peak cringe. If they set up a skip to Dawntrail for new characters to jump into the new story arc I and many others feel like it would be beneficial for the game’s long term health. While the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc is great storytelling it’s also not a sacred cow for people to clutch pearls over. At the end of the day, it’s a game to be played. We’re all better than this and should start acting like it.

@zeppeli10018986 Oh that actually is explained, achievements are used to prove when an account played, and as new accounts are found their numbers can effect the older columns. That's how we have data all the way back to 1.0 despite luckybancho being a relatively new thing.

I'm going to make it extremely clear, the LB graph is not the number of active players, it has never been that, it can rise and fall regardless of player count, most of the people you see right now in game will never be counted in that graph.
Stop saying it's the player count.

@Shard_Malaguld It is non-trial players who got certain achievements in a specific timeframe and had their lodestone achievement data set to public (default is off) and they aren't playing on SEA, CN, or KR servers. LB does publish actual numbers but only graph shared because ooh pretty colours.
