@mud_and_stars For me, just slowing down and paying attention. So if I wipe down the draining board, then really look at it sparkling and take it in, feel satisfied, thank myself for doing something good. Feeding birds, watering plants, simple things.

As survivors, service users, mad people, disabled people, we are targets for state violence, through the Health & Social Care systems, through the Benefits system. Our reactions to this, our ways of coping with this, should not be pathologised, medicalised.

Mixed emotions seeing this. I didn't even realise. Becoming a #mentalhealth #Nurse is still the best thing I have ever done. One of the biggest things I am scared of losing, due to my own #mentalillness. I hope I have made a difference. Just as the girl in the starfish story.

We are empathic beings who feel for each other. Our very success as a species is rooted in our ability to be aware of each other's needs, to notice each other's pain and to experience deeply felt physiological and emotional empathy. Empathy is remembering that everybody has a story. Multiple stories. And remembering to make space to hear someone else’s story before immediately telling your own. Kae Tempest
