I was recently told that approaching a woman with the explicit purpose of a romantic relationship was evil and objectifying. I'm now learning being friends with a woman and falling in love with her ovrr time is also evil. The conclusion: I am evil for wanting to love.

@tragic_endings_ I mean "wondering if he was" isn't "categorically he could not have been". It's absolutely normal and common to develop feelings for someone you're friends with but it also feels pretty bad to find out your friend came into that friendship with romantic intentions

The way that some ppl seem to think friendship and romantic feelings are mutually exclusive or anathema to each other is very odd to me Like… why would him falling in love with you in any way mean he “wasn’t truly your friend”?

As a result, he gets sent down to creep status for trying to be a husband when she never saw that investment value in him.

I don't understand how women thinking men loving them means that they don't see them as humans. Of course we see you as people.

It is truly baffling to me how a lot of women think that admiring someone as a friend and developing a crush on them are mutually exclusive things. It's actually the opposite, a guy is infinitely more likely to fall in love with you if he enjoys your company as a friend.

Women will spend a lot of time telling us how "creepy" it is for a man to explicitly go to places with the intention of meeting women "oh no, it has to happen organically, you have to get to know her and stuff!" and then proceed to tell us how chillingly repulsive they find it when a man who does get to know them proceeds to develop romantic feelings for them. Proving once again that listening to what women say they want is a chump's game.

Honestly for me, the worst part isn't even the confession. Feelings happen, I get it. It's when they proceed to completely stop talking to me, block and avoid me after I've turned them down. That's when I start questioning if they were only my friend to date me.

@davidtwetermann @MysticalYuuki I'm not sure why you think women are a foreign, unknowable species, plenty of us have had crushes on friends before, dude. I distanced myself for a bit but ultimately maintained the friendship because they were: my friend, who I cared about and valued having in my life.

@MysticalYuuki I get that having a friendship end this way sucks but this is so obviously bs. Of course he isn't gonna orbit around you if he has feelings for you that you don't reciprocate. Would you? That would be torture. The friendship can be real AND still stop after a love confession.
