1/2 Junior Road Safety Officers and their teams are a huge help to the local area, communities and their schools. They help promote road safety issues within the school and local community. We hugely value the work of JRSO’s and because of this we have started to provide a ..

Our next Walk to School Day will be on Monday 2nd March at Foston CE Primary School and we will be following this with a whole school assembly about keeping safe whilst walking, cycling and scooting. We are really looking forward to meeting all the children and their families.

We would like to say a HUGE WELL DONE to Malton Primary Academy for once again achieving Outstanding status for their Team ModeshiftTravel Plan. Malton Primary Academy work very hard to continually increase levels of walking, cycling and using other forms of sustainable travel.

We are really looking forward to working with EYFS/KS1 and KS2 students from Appleton Wiske Community Primary School tomorrow. We will be looking at how to stay safe when walking, cycling and scooting.

Thankyou so much to Brotherton and Byram CP Academy for allowing us to come and speak to all the children this morning for a whole school road safety assembly. Such wonderful questions and answers from all the children. @BandBschool

1/2 We have fully updated our North Yorkshire Council ‘Walking Bus Guide’ and ‘Park and Stride Guide’ , these as well as example letters are available to be printed off/downloaded from Open North Yorkshire – Education section.

A big thankyou to Kirkbymoorside Community Primary School for allowing us to visit last week. We have lots of combined plans to encourage Active and Sustainable Travel going forward and very much looking forward to delivering these with help from the Schools JRSO's

2/2 Over 110 children entered the competition in North Yorkshire, and we were able to present one of our 3 winners with her prize. Well done to you all – we loved your designs.

1/2 Last week we surprised one talented young lady with a visit from Spike our Road Safety hedgehog. Children in EYFS and KS1 entered a competition where they had to design a friend for Spike.

A HUGE thankyou to everyone at Filey Junior School for allowing us to support your recent Walk to School Day. We had so many children and their families walking to school – Well done to everyone involved. @FileyJunior

Last week we were lucky enough to meet all the children from Birstwith Primary School to discuss how to stay safe when we are all walking and cycling. We spoke about the importance of being bright and being seen, as well as basic road and cycle safety. Spike also joined in!

1/3 ONE WEEK TO GO..... The North Yorkshire School's Cycling Roadshow. We have five amazing Schools taking part in this event as a special 'Well done' for their continued hard work and efforts in making their school and community travel in a more active and sustainable manner.
