General Sibiya is not part of the group. More arrests are expected, we understand. Four brigadiers are part of the group, as are Bid Evaluation Committee officers. Investigations are underway to establish whether the Bid Adjudication Committee was misled into favoring Medicare24. @eNCA

🔴 JUST IN 🔴 The tallest building in Mthatha has being set on fire. The Botha Sigcau building which has many provincial departments is burning down. The arson could be driven by two mutually inclusive dirty tricks: 1. To create rental property crises in Mthatha and let those who own private buildings cash in from government rentals 2. To burn down tender files which are subject to Hawks ongoing probe Whatever it is, this confirms that Mthatha is a crime scene.

EXCLUSIVE Several senior police officers, including Generals, have been arrested in Pretoria on corruption related charges. It is linked to the Medicare Tshwane District contract. Sources say the arrested cops were part of the bid committee. We also believe that a former senior employee of Vusi “Cat” Matlala is behind bars. They are being detained at a police station in the capital. All those arrested will appear in court tomorrow. @pule_jones

Bonteheuwel/Langa, Cape Town: A smash-and-grab went very wrong for this suspect. What was meant to be a quick score turned into a slow, embarrassing ride — left clinging onto the car door… The victims weren’t having it…they stepped in and made sure he wasn’t going anywhere, holding onto him. Hopefully, his next stop was the police station.

#MadlangaCommission: Commissioner Spitz explains the R91 million budget deficit caused by ad-hoc security services. The TMPD's adjusted budget of R350 million was based on normal watchman services only. Client departments (e.g., Water and Sanitation) approved ad-hoc services but failed to transfer funds to TMPD, forcing TMPD to pay from its own budget. By end of April 2025, TMPD's budget was depleted. A letter dated 2 July 2025 (signed by Chief Faru, CFO Mnisi, and City Manager Mettler) sought an upliftment of R91 million to cover May-June 2025 invoices. Spitz notes the budget initially allocated was half of normal requirements, requiring adjustment. #Madlanga youtube.com/live/LeqleZO9t…

I am opposed to this idea of regulating podcasts. Will this mean that you need a license to make a YouTube video? We have not as parliament or as government done anything to help these young people create the platforms they have now. They put in the sweat and tears. We have a promising nascent industry here, instead of incubating and accelerating it, using it to create media companies of the future to lead the discourse and content economy of Africa we are entertaining censorship and regulatory gate keeping.

Spoke in Parliament today about the rise of podcasts and the question of regulation—making the case that the industry should be protected and nurtured, not prematurely overregulated.

Spies tells the Madlanga Commission a company, Gubis85 Solutions, received R59 million from Tshwane — allegedly for work not done. Spies says the company is one of three linked to alleged tender manipulation involving Sgt Fannie Nkosi. The payments were for ad hoc security services purchase orders. #KayaNews #MadlangaCommission TT

TMPD Deputy Commissioner Revo Spies is set to take the stand at the Madlanga Commission today. Spies, who heads Asset Protection and Security Services, is expected to testify on alleged criminality and political interference within the metro police. He joined TMPD in March 2025 after taking early retirement from EMPD. So far the city has heard the following about Fannie Nkosi’s involvement in the tender rigging: Alleged inside influence: Sergeant Fannie Nkosi told the commission he worked with TMPD deputy chief Umashi Dlamini to help his brother’s company secure a City of Tshwane tender. Non-compliant bidder: The company, Ngapesheya, was allegedly non-compliant on at least 12 separate requirements — yet was still pushed forward. Interference after closing date: Evidence shows communication continued months after the tender closed in October 2024. Fixing compliance issues: Dlamini allegedly sent instructions in April 2025 on how to address outstanding compliance problems. Preferred bidders list: Nkosi sent a list of preferred companies to Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi, list was reportedly compiled by an individual known as “Nico”. #KayaNews #MadlangaCommission TT

I have just laid criminal charges of intimidation against Minister Gayton McKenzie. Attempts to intimidate me will not stop me from probing every possible link to the drug cartels destroying our community. Attacks on me as an MP carrying out my constitutional duties to expose criminal capture by drug cartels in South Africa are unacceptable and will be dealt with in accordance with the law. South Africans expect me to fight for them and the daily threats I receive, including attempts by a Minister to intimidate me, will not stop me.
