Doctors and lawyers are the only professionals whose professions follow them around even outside of professional settings. I have played football in places where doctors and lawyers are addressed by their profession even on the field: "D Law", "Doc". Nobody even knows me as an accountant not to talk of addressing me by it in informal settings.
