q. what is the face of taeyeon now? taeyeon: in the past time, i’ve been doing things to meet other people’s expectation because of the nature of my job; but recently, i’m trying to fill my days by doing things up to my will. i eat whatever i want, i go wherever i want, and i just have my free time for no apparent reason. as time builds up, i’m gradually reclaiming my sense of existence as ‘person kim taeyeon,’ not ‘singer taeyeon.’ just a small add-on, i also order delivery food these days. q. from the first mini album ‘i’ to ‘my voice,’ ‘purpose,’ and ‘invu,’ these names fully speak for themselves. it’s also been over 10 years since you became a solo vocalist. taeyeon: the view i have has changed. i was used to look (at things or myself) more on the outside, now i try to look into the inside of myself longer. my job’s environment constantly changes and i’m not the type that can approach other people easily. because of that, i’ve become more cautious in my relationships as well. in the mean time, zero is always there for me. he’s so healthy that he even eats and lives better than i do. (laughs)

It's not like I ever set out to "break" anything on purpose, but I've always just moved in the most honest direction I could choose at the time. That's also why I like DAZED. I like perspectives that step slightly outside of what's familiar. Even their summer edition is like that too, it's a collection where refinement and freedom coexist. I like that balance. It's polished but not suffocating, structured but still feels free. That's the direction I'm drawn to right now too. Going forward, I want to let go a bit more and show a less polished version of myself, something more natural and more honest. Maybe my next work will feel closer to this photoshoot.
