Markets are expecting: • Headline CPI: 3.8% YoY (down from 4.2%) • Core CPI: 2.8% YoY (down from 2.9%) Why does it matter? 📉 Lower-than-expected inflation could strengthen the case for future rate cuts, supporting risk assets like stocks and crypto. 📈 Higher-than-expected inflation could push Treasury yields and the U.S. dollar higher while putting pressure on risk assets as traders price in a more hawkish Fed. One of the biggest mindset shifts I had in trading was realizing it's not about being right most of the time. It's about having positive expectancy. Most beginners think: "I need to win 70-80% of my trades to make money." You don't. Let's use a simple example. If you risk 1R to make 2R, your break-even win rate is only 33.3%. That means: • Lose 2 trades = -2R • Win 1 trade = +2R You're back to break even. Win anything above 33%, and you're profitable over a large enough sample. Trading is a numbers game. Your focus should be: "Can I execute my edge consistently over the next 100 trades?" That's why backtesting matters. Collect enough data to answer questions like: • What's my actual win rate? • What's my average R? • What's my maximum drawdown? • How many trades do I need before my edge plays out? The best traders build systems. Then they trust the statistics. Because in the long run, the numbers always tell the truth.
