Pitch Spotlight: @pendle_fi This pitch spotlight covers the $PENDLE report presented by Jeremy Mitaux, Finn Kierstead, and Salem Alfassam. Pendle is a yield tokenization protocol on Ethereum that splits yield-bearing assets into Principal Tokens (PT) and Yield Tokens (YT), allowing users to trade fixed versus variable yield, a utility with no direct competitor in the DeFi space. The pitch also introduced Boros, Pendle's newest product targeting funding rate speculation and interest rate swap trading, with an addressable market estimated at 10x the size of V2. The core thesis acknowledged Pendle's dominant >80% market share in yield derivatives while surfacing critical headwinds: its explosive 2025 TVL growth was largely driven by recursive Ethena USDe carry trades, mercenary capital that evaporated once yield spreads compressed and the October 10th liquidation event hit. Daily active users have since fallen 98.97% from peak, and Boros revenue currently flows away from $PENDLE buybacks until product-market fit is established. The group ultimately recommended selling the December 2025 position and rotating into Solana, viewing SOL as a more resilient, broad-based L1 bet with diversified demand drivers better suited to the current sideways market environment. Big shoutout to Jeremy, Finn, and Salem for a great pitch!

Sector Update: Prediction Markets This sector analysis examines the rise of blockchain-based prediction markets, focusing on platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi as emerging financial infrastructure for real-time forecasting. Unlike traditional polling or gambling models, these markets turn probabilities into tradable assets, aggregating decentralized information into market-driven “truth signals” that increasingly influence media, finance, and public decision-making. The core thesis argues that prediction markets represent a structurally powerful but imperfect evolution in global forecasting. While they demonstrate superior price discovery, liquidity growth, and institutional adoption, the analysis highlights material risks including insider trading, oracle failures, regulatory ambiguity, and market design inefficiencies. The conclusion is cautiously constructive: prediction markets are likely to become embedded into mainstream financial and information systems, but long-term winners will be determined by regulatory navigation, technological robustness, and the ability to balance decentralization with institutional trust. Shoutout to @jacobcordova22, Jennifer, @Chasneed_ and Braydon for their work on this sector update!

Pitch Spotlight: @RaveDAO This pitch spotlight covers the RaveDAO ($RAVE) report presented by Mateusz Palusinski, Xander Millard, and Justin Schroeder. RaveDAO is a Web3 entertainment protocol built around crypto-native live music events. Unlike most consumer crypto projects, RaveDAO proved real demand through ticketed, revenue-generating events before launching a token, using blockchain as a coordination, governance, and participation layer rather than a speculative product. The core thesis highlights RaveDAO’s strength as a culture-first, real-world protocol with genuine cash flow and community traction, while also emphasizing key risks. Although $RAVE captures value through governance, staking, and access for organizers and participants, the lack of a clear 2026 event roadmap, upcoming token unlocks, and broader market weakness created uncertainty around near-term upside. As a result, the group issued a No Buy recommendation, prioritizing capital discipline over speculative exposure despite strong long-term narrative appeal. Big shoutout to @MateuszPalusin2, Xander and Justin for their pitch!

Pitch Spotlight: Sell Bundle This pitch spotlight focuses on the Sell Bundle Pitch from @jenlb04 and @Chasneed_ , outlining a defensive portfolio strategy in response to ongoing bear market conditions. The pitch focused on reducing exposure to underperforming and speculative AI and DePIN assets, specifically Spectre and Bittensor subnets SN56 and SN64, while partially trimming Pendle and Chainlink to free up liquidity. The core thesis centered on capital preservation and flexibility, arguing that despite strong long-term fundamentals in some of these protocols, current market structure, weak altcoin liquidity, and sustained drawdowns make consolidation into Ethereum the more disciplined move. By reallocating back into ETH, the fund positions itself to better withstand volatility and stay ready to deploy capital when market conditions improve.  Big shout to Jennifer and Charlie for delivering the first pitch of the term!

WEEK 8 We started this meeting off with a Macro Update from VC Director Jennifer Barnett and Research Analyst Julian Krozel on Bitcoin, price predictions for Bitcoin with upcoming holidays, recent integration with CashApp, and factors affecting the price of Bitcoin. We then heard a pitch from VC Director Jeremy Mitaux and VC Analyst Justin Schroeder on Chainlink, a decentralized oracle network that pipes real-world data into smart contracts so blockchains can actually interact with external systems. We ended the meeting with a Professional Development session, where management helped members with their resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn and more! #Blockchain #Crypto #VentureCapital #UOregon #LundquistCollegeOfBusiness #StartupEcosystem #CryptoNews #Web3 #Finance #DormDAO

WEEK 6 This past week’s meeting was an informational one, with an exciting pitch as well! We started off with OBG Alumni and former director of VC Jordan Brewer speaking on his job at Runa Digital Assets, his career after college, and how OBG helped him in his career. Then we heard a macro update from VC Director Jeremy Mitaux and VC Analyst Evan Thompson, going over the crazy BTC price fluctuations, the effects of data centers on small communities, President Trump’s recent Asia tour, the growth of AI and where it could go in the future, and the recent NYC Mayoral race & government shutdown. We then heard an excited pitch from VC Analysts Jacob Cordova and Xander Milliard on Subnets 56, 62, and 64 (Gradients, Ridges, Chutes) of the Bittensor Protocol. Ridges is a reasoning-focused subnet that scores and refines high-quality model outputs, Gradients is a training subnet where miners submit gradient updates used to optimize models, & Chutes is a market-making subnet that generates real-time crypto price signals from decentralized quotes. Always great to hear from an alumni like Jordan and an interesting pitch! #Blockchain #Crypto #VentureCapital #UOregon #LundquistCollegeOfBusiness #StartupEcosystem #CryptoNews #Web3 #Finance #DormDAO
