Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior on the goalkeeper situation: “Obviously I made a decision to play Filip against Villa and his performance was outstanding. His performance against PSG for 75 minutes was outstanding but then he made a mistake. Rob Sanchez is one of the best goalkeepers in the league but I have to make a decision for every game.”

40 years ago today I had the good fortune to find this juvenile Ivory Gull on Saltburn Beach, before work and in a blizzard. Not the rarest bird I have found but perhaps the most dramatic. It stayed for a week and was widely twitched. @teesbirds1 @nybirdnews

@ChelsTransfer @kierangill_DM Romeo was never fit when we paid all that money for him. I’ve never known a player injured so often. He was responsible for his signing as I remember us bragging at how we had beaten Liverpool to getting him.

Romeo Lavia, whose career with Chelsea has been curtailed by injuries, has not appeared since early November and no timeframe has been placed on the 22-year-old’s return. (via @kierangill_DM)

This juvenile Cuckoo has been frequenting Gramborough Hill for 8 days now, though it often wanders off for lengthy periods when disturbed. Very sadly, it is the only Cuckoo I have seen in the Cley square this year. (More pics at cleybirds.com.)

@Brians_birds Hi Brian, to be honest each pelagic is different. It is even more unpredictable than regular land birding.

@OreillyReilly2 Awesome, Ray, I will have to investigate on bird guides for recent sightings! Any intel would be appreciated. I'm Wimbledon based.

An incredible experience watching a pod of 6 Orca @FI_Obs yesterday evening. Amazing to watch them skirting the cliffs around Buness before heading south.

Terrific views of the Night Heron for 20 minutes this morning, close in front of Cley NWT Daukes Hide – until it flew off to Stiffkey. Many thanks for the shouts Andrew & @mcbuckland. (More pics at cleybirds.com.)
