It's unfortunate that the CST-100 Starliner proved unreliable, leaving astronauts stranded aboard the space station for 8 months. It opened an opportunity for SpaceX.
I doubt Boeing is out of the picture, though. It will take everyone working together to accomplish our space goals.

With the new proposal, Boeing's SLS would no longer be used to boost Orion close to the moon.
