On Friday (16 May) after the market closed, Moodys announced that they have downgraded the US Debt Credit Rating from Aaa to Aa1. Will US stocks crash on Monday on this news? Previous two instances... On Aug 5 2011, when S&P downgraded US debt, the S&P 500 ($SPX) dropped 10.37% in 41 trading days. 12 months later, $SPX was up +36% On Aug 1 2023, when Fitch downgraded US debt, the S&P 500 ($SPX) dropped 10.31% in 58 trading days. 12 months later, $SPX was up +37% If the $SPX drops another 10% this round, it would be another great opportunity for me to load up on high quality businesses once again. Will the market panic again 3rd time around or will the market be smarter and not react this time? I hope there is panic selling so I have the opportunity to add more $AMZN, $META, $MSFT, $GOOG etc... What do you think?

I remember when my capital gain investment account first reached $1m many years ago . Shortly after, it dropped to $700k Then it zoomed up to $1.5m, then dropped to $1.1m … up and down , up and down . In January this year, it hit $18.3m , then dropped to $16m, then went up to $17m. I am 100% certain it will grow to $100m to $120m in 10 years based on simple 15% to 20% annualised compounded return So why bother how it gets there ? It can’t get there in one straight line. Your account will breathe in and breathe out, wave up and wave down all the way to much higher levels The worst thing investors can do is to try to jump out and back in… you will kill the process and the compounding effect. 4 out of 5 times you will end up buying back at a much much higher price or never get back in at all So, don”t get fixated by the daily ups and downs of your portfolio . You will go insane. In the end, all the wealth you accumulate will go towards therapy and medication from all your anxiety and stress. Not worth it . Enjoy the process and the journey 😀
