Good grief! Blessed feast to those celebrating. In the Orthodox tradition (this year, feast next week) such images of Our Lord are often encircled with a mandorla (see below). I'm of the opinion that the "object at the top" of the Western art (below) presents the same. 🛸🤔🤭
