Tasting room fees of $50 in Paso are insane. They are insane anywhere. It’s the wine industry making itself inaccessible to newcomers. It’s massively short sighted. Get a grip, folks

In Paso Robles, average tasting room fees have jumped to over $50 per person. It's triggering alarm amongst tourists and industry folk alike. wineenthusiast.com/culture/travel…

What one does when they need quality and can’t afford to have someone else do it. #traditionalmetalroof

@winenshine Ahh, now I agree😂. But here is where I (almost) lean towards a synthetic cork. But the crumbly corks are from improper bottle storage (on the side like wine), higher proof spirits should be stored standing up. But, cork and spirits is a real issue.
English

@winenshine Crumbly cork should be from a well aged wine (>30yrs) that was built to stand the test. Nothing to do with the closure outside. I’m also happy to deal with a crumbly old cork, because I know the potential of what’s inside. And cork is still (?) the best seal for aging.
English

@winenshine For well stuff agreed! But bottles that are opened once a quarter or once a decade like my offerings😉, how much extra effort is it? And at a table with a bottle opened by a Som, come on, it’s no more work than is done to clean a table of crumbs between dinner and dessert?
English

@winenshine Because, it’s natural, sustainable, tactile and it’s only downside is a few crumbs of wax at the table. I think it shows commitment and personally (just me mind you), I love it.
English

@winenshine I love real wax! Not plastic, but the natural stuff harvested from bees and mixed with pine pitch to make the perfect natural seal! Yes, it throws a few crumbs, like proper bread. But it’s not sealing wax that’s the problem, please.

@whiskystat Orion, is absolutely a distiller, he’s up every night when one should be distilling, and sets in the evening sky, when it’s time to conclude. Until he gets around to rising in the evening sky once more.

@AndrewF26144765 Bright side is the new chai will be finished by then.

@AndrewF26144765 Ohh shit, you should have said something. It’s been e day for ver a month ☹️
English

@Osocalis Glad for you. I wanted to get some pictures while you were actually distilling.
English

@Osocalis Wait, what? They got the road open to the winery?

@PlebYak While there is a fair bit of prose cited here, there is quite a bit of it which is not quite correct/misleading. I would suggest editing for quality by doing a bit of journalistic research on many of the claims.
