A very personal post from me this morning. I was in an abusive relationship years ago (two in fact, but in different ways). I was also an online gambling addict for some time. I spent over three weeks in a psychiatric hospital and have been under psychiatrists since I was a child. I have borderline personality disorder, which I take medication for, and I have various physical health conditions which mean I cannot work full time. However, this is not a post about self-pity. Quite the opposite. It is about how someone CAN achieve pockets of success despite their past and present struggles. And how someone CAN be proud of their fight and their achievements. Two years ago my first book, Keanu Revees is Not in Love with You, was published and went down way better than I ever expected. My second book, The Future of Fraud, is out next month and I hope will be of interest to people. I now speak at conferences over the world and am regularly called upon by The Times to write about fraud. This is not a post about showing off for the sake of it. This is a post about celebrating the wins in life and not being shy to announce that you’re doing well. I don’t know if the success will be short-lived or will carry on for a while longer but I’d like to thank every one who has liked my Twitter posts, bought my books and been encouraging as I’ve grown. I think you’re all awesome. 🙏

Suicide. I'm choosing to be deliberately blunt and provocative in this post because it's necessary. Government, charities, football clubs are all pushing water up a hill in highlighting what is undoubtedly a major health crisis. You take a rope. You put it up in a garage or a tree nearby or far away. You're thinking about every loved one you'll leave behind as you put that rope around your neck. Then you drop. Some are decapitated. Some aren't. All are found by someone who has a lifetime of trauma that will never leave them. A son. A daughter. A brother. A sister. A mother. A father. I know 2 men who hung themselves. One was found by his Mom. One was found by his brother. Neither have recovered fully. 20 and 30 years on. A life sentence for people who were already worrying, terrified their loved one may do something. So just visualise the above and ask, "is there another way"? A segway for a moment. I do a few Q&A's every year. Tales of yesterday with a 99% male audience of my age group. After the stories and fun, my last question back to the audience is.. "Hands up if you struggle with a mental health issue". Nobody ever puts a hand up. Despite 1 in every 3 of 500 attendees statistically struggling. "Ah, nobody, that's fucking brilliant! Well I do! ". I then graphically tell people, stunned into silence about how a rope around my neck in the middle of nowhere jolted me to go home and cry like a baby to my Mom. After the Q&A has finished, something always happens. I'll be chatting to a few guys, saying bye and one by one, men will come over and whisper " I struggle". Or my mailbox the next day will have 30 emails from guys, their partners or kids saying " Dad/Uncle /Brother was there last night and what you said hit them hard". And that's how some people realise that it's time to speak to a pal or family member or even rant to me in an email. It works, I often get a follow up email a year or 6 later saying that they took responsibility for their suicidal feelings and are now flying. Humans are programmed to want to live, to have families and to keep the species growing and thriving. So for a human to want to short circuit that desire isn't normal, and it should never be spoken of as normal. It's the ultimate red flag. If you suspect your mate, Dad, Brother, Uncle is struggling mentally, they deserve your intervention. They deserve a " are you OK, please tell me what's up". They deserve an opportunity to get past wanting to hang a rope over a tree or in a garage and slowly struggle until they die and you find them. If you've been there and trust me I have plenty, then you'll know that text out of the blue, or a footie mate or one of your kids asking jow you are can open the curtains to some sunshine. Because when suicide is your only answer, the room is already dark, and you can't see a way out. So please, fucking pretty please, ask that husband, Dad, Uncle, Cousin, footie pal TODAY how they are. You may be shocked what comes back but extremely glad that you asked. For those who struggle, you're not alone.

@MartinSLewis When I worked in a bank, a man asked me to count the notes to him really quietly as he didn’t want people to know how much cash he had. I remembered that and did the same for every other customer.

Young man, on a table behind me (im sitting out in the sun) speaking to his bank to move money but he's ON SPEAKERPHONE. Why? He's just listed his account numbers, talked through his finance, I can (as can many others) hear the security checks he's being asked. He's now asking how much is in his savings, with the answer coming on speaker. I want to suggest he do it off speaker, but he's being quite aggressive on the phone, so I'm not going to. Yet its not rocket science that this isn't something to play out aloud (let alone being quite annoying to all near)

I was just on the Easyjet EZY8084 from Palma to Gatwick. Once we got on board we got an air traffic delay. The captain came out and explained the situation and invited anyone with children who wanted to use the 45 minutes delay to come and visit the cockpit. Once we took off there was medical emergency which meant half the cabin were occupied dealing with the situation. The remaining crew managed to deal with everyone else with good humour and all the passengers seemed to act with respect and patience. When we landed the captain explained that the medical emergency would be dealt with at the front and asked passengers to disembark through tje rear row by row. I just wanted to say this was the perfect example of how to manage a situation and I wanted to congratulate the captain and the crew because it could not have been handled better.

I'm hearing pain here, Ken, not anger. I know it hasn't been easy since she left, what with living in your mum's garage and losing your PornHub Premium subscription, but on the bright side, your kids are bound to want to see you again one day, if only out of morbid curiosity.

This will be my last tweet on the subject, however wanted to clarify my position for those who have questioned whether I'm a 'transphobe'. It is a subject that I think very little about, but when I do, I treat it like it like religion. I think every religion is equally untrue but I will always treat any individual who chooses to believe in any God, with respect and kindness. I shouldn't have to share their views and beliefs to respect them. Similarly, I dont believe for a second that an individual can change sex, however if I meet someone who identifies as a man or woman, I will treat them with the same respect and kindness as I would anybody else. I take issue when I am told that is isn't enough to accept that they believe in a God, or that they self-identify as X or Y (or more accurately XX or XY), but I MUST AGREE with their beliefs or ideologies. I am under no obligation to share someone else's beliefs and my respect only ends when I am told what I have to say, think or feel. My thoughts, feelings and language are sacrosanct. I hope you all have an amazing weekend and that it is filled with love, kindness & cheese.

My heart is broken💔: As friends & family know, my wife was pregnant with our 2nd child, & about to begin her 2nd trimester. A few days ago she had severe pains, & bleeding, and had to go to the emergency room. There, it was discovered that our baby no longer had a heartbeat. Devastated doesn't come close to what that feels like. Unfortunately for people like us, because of the current laws in the state of Texas, that was only the beginning of this nightmare. Jess (my wife) had an "incomplete miscarriage", and what needed to happen, what was best for HER, and her health, was to terminate the pregnancy, and get the baby out. The doctor gave her a medication that would move this process along, and sent her home. Where, apparently we would be handling it ourselves. We were told it might take a couple of attempts before it worked. I'll let you decide how you feel about that. After a long, painful night of the equivalent of early labor, the baby was still with her. So, we went back to the Emergency Center to get the 2nd dose. A new doctor was on call. He was an older man. You could hear him in the hallway as he said, "I'm not giving her a pill so she can go home and have an ab*rtion!". Being well aware that our baby no longer had a heartbeat. Then, he came into the room to say, and I quote: "Considering the current stance. I'm not going to prescribe you this pill". Then, just sent us on our way. The "CURRENT STANCE"?! Did he really just say that?! No one should ever have to hear their wife say: "Get this dead baby out of me!". Can you even imagine how that must feel? The pain, and the bleeding continued. So, we decided to go to another hospital, about an hour away. There was a female doctor on call there, and we thought we might have better luck. I should probably mention, the procedure to get the baby out is called a D & C. It's scary, & traumatizing, but sometimes necessary in situations like ours. Especially in emergency circumstances. So we get to the next hospital. They take Jess in, ask her a bunch of questions, do a new scan... confirm that the baby is still there, with no heartbeat, and then disappear... for hours. Only to come back in and keep asking the same questions over and over. It's becoming clear that they're primary concern is NOT my wife's health. Instead, they seem to be worried about the legalities involved. So, they decide it is not "enough of an emergency" to perform the D & C. They do, however, prescribe another, stronger, final dose of the medication for us to try again... at home. So, we go home to try again. Another long day/night of early labor pains. Only to discover my wife UNCONSCIOUS in the bathroom. Having to pick my wife's cold, limp body off of that bathroom floor, not sure if I was about to lose her, is something I will NEVER forget. She had to be rushed to the hospital. By this point she had lost so much blood, and bodily fluid, her body gave out. They were able to stabilize her, give her the fluids she needed, and we came back home yesterday afternoon. We were also able to confirm that our baby was no longer with her. Now, not only do we have to live with the loss of our baby... we have to live with the nightmare of what we just experienced because of political and religious beliefs. MY WIFE'S HEALTH SHOULD HAVE COME FIRST. PERIOD! God knows what mental and emotional damage this has done. If you consider yourself a staunch "pro-lifer" ... 1) You've never been through what we just went through, and 2) You should take a long, hard look in the mirror and reevaluate your reasons for supporting such a cold, barbaric, ignorant point of view. It's not that black & white, and it's never going to be. If you think your "Pray To End Ab*rtion" sign in your yard is "Christian", I suggest you revisit the teachings of Jesus and try again. If you support these laws that make ab*rtion illegal, and result in people being put through what we just were, you should be ashamed of yourself. I've never been so angry, or heartbroken... and the devastation I'm feeling must pale in comparison to what my poor wife is feeling.
