You know, back in the days when majority of us were still unexposed and backward, this relation of mine living abroad would always hurl invectives at our government each time he visited Nigeria! He never spared them! He would give us a very elaborate description of life overseas and how wicked and heartless our leaders were for not putting efforts into improving our country! In his own words "you can never step foot in developed countries abroad without feeling some level of hatred for our rulers!" And he was absolutely right because from the mere pictures he took over there, alone, is enough to convince even the most clueless person here that Naija is way behind civilisation! Ask yourself this question! Why are majorities of our past and present presidents tourists? Like dem no dey ever like to stay for the same country wey dem almost kpai themselves campaigning so hard to win election? Especially APC presidents ranging from Bubu to TPain! Balablu is always globetrotting as if he took over the office of a diplomat instead of President. He is always traveling, burning tax payers money and leaving Nigeria neck deep in debts. That's what persistent and prolonged hardship does to a society. It makes them emotionally unavailable.

When you are busy battling rent pressure, job pressure, fuel pressure, family expectations, emotional stress and financial uncertainty, your human feelings crashes too.

Empathy has disappeared from many Nigerians. Patience is now an August visitor. Everybody is irritated faster unlike before.

People no longer check on others the same way anymore...even family members. I think I might be guilty of this too and it's so sad!
