A young Agatha Christie (centre) roller skating on Torquay pier with her friends the Lucy Family c1911 Agatha once said "Roller skating on the pier was much in vogue, the surface of the pier was extremely rough and you fell down a good deal, but it was great fun! "

Well, you gotta start 'em young these days! We don't know whether to be impressed or worried for the lad's fingers... Taken by George Garland in 1950, we aren't quite sure where this smithy was located. #ExploreYourArchive

I have posted this before but this is where I was born. The #workingclass cottages on Scotts Yard in Ossett were demolished after we left. Looking back the yard could have been sympathetically restored complete with cobbles. That just wasn't the way things were then #wakefield

In the early 7th century, St Peulan chose a bumpy knoll at the end of an isolated causeway on Anglesey to build his church. The oldest parts of the existing church at Llanbeulan date to the 1100s and have weathered more than 800 winters.

Not everyone has equal access to reading. So we are proud to be working with Penguin on this: Penguin will donate a book to foodbanks and other local good causes when you buy a book on Bookshop.org this Christmas. It begins with a book: uk.bookshop.org/lists/it-begin…

This tree in Wales was badly damaged in a storm and was scheduled to be cut down. But then, talented chainsaw sculptor Simon O’Rourke devised a way to depict its last attempt to reach for the sky. I think it’s very powerful!

I'll be honest, it's been a tough few months for many @nationaltrust. I'd love some encouragement for my amazing colleagues. Let me know if you value anything from our research to our scones and I'll pass it on. Thanks. RT please.

@JohnOrnaO @nationaltrust We visited @KnoleNT in half term, the staff were wonderful despite the awful weather and covid restrictions. A special shout out to the conservator who had swapped jobs and was helping to explain the cartoon gallery to visitors, she was brilliant. 🏰
