It’s pretty crazy to contrast the GOP messaging on the economy — it’s awful, everything is bad — with reality: 15 million jobs created during Biden’s presidency, 4.1% unemployment rate, the Dow Jones at a *literal* All-Time High at this very second.

Greg Abbott has been the Governor of Texas for 10 years. Republicans have controlled the state for decades. He does this after every outage. This is the government Texas wants so this is what they get. Incompetence and culture wars.

There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.
