If they can’t lead the movement, the next best strategy is to reshape it. One way to do that is by exploiting existing fault lines inside the base, and right now the biggest one is foreign policy - particularly the alliance with Israel. For decades, the majority of Republican and MAGA voters have been strongly aligned with Israel. But some influencers now see an opportunity to fracture the coalition by reframing that relationship as a betrayal of “America First.” This creates a new faction, one they can potentially lead. Notice the pattern: During the campaign many of these same voices were among the loudest defenders of Trump. Now that access and influence have shifted, their messaging has changed dramatically. Before getting swept up in the outrage cycles, ask a simple question: What were they saying when the movement was winning - and what are they saying now that they’re outside the inner circle?
