When did Carson Benge think he'd have a shot to make his spectacular catch in the 9th inning? "Whenever it went in my glove" 😂

Carlos Mendoza is going to remain the Mets' manager, per @AnthonyDiComo "In the eyes of team decision-makers, the blame should be spread throughout the organization, from baseball operations to the clubhouse... Club officials do not place the responsibility for that on Mendoza. Instead, Mendoza will be given a chance to execute one of the more dramatic turnarounds in baseball history. With 131 games still to play, Mets officials believe there is enough time for the Mets to run back up the National League standings..." David Stearns to DiComo: "We know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more. We don’t view this as a manager problem, and we don’t intend to make a change."

Good for the Mets showing patience and discipline as an organization. It’s not the easy way but it’s the right way.

@SNY_Mets @OuttaTheHat @AnthonyDiComo Honestly, who cares? The egomaniac can’t admit mistakes. So, Mendoza stays. Stearns has officially become the worst executive the Mets have ever had. Unwatchable.

Luke Weaver offers up his perspective on the Mets' struggles: "I've been sitting here trying to think about what to even say to you guys and what you're even going to ask. At the end of the day, this pursuit of perfection is an ultimate pressurized failure mindset. Everybody wants to be the hero because we care and we want to win really, really bad. I just don't think success lives in that realm. It truly doesn't. The freedom with which we play day-to-day is kind of being suffocated a little bit. I want to do my job, it's that simple - there's moments that feel really close, and then there's mistakes that magnify our situation. I sit there and feel the weight of the world, like I let the team down... We sit there and we tell you guys, 'It'll come. This is the game. This is the law of averages.' But those words just don't hold the same weight when you continue to [lose] day after day. The encouragement and motivation to pursue being the best person and best baseball player you can be is the only answer. Until we prove that, I understand the grievances from the outsiders."
