@dtv20 @EdhMidwest @SKINSWukong My whole problem is Fraction’s writing style leans heavily into character quirks and micro details which can work great for a grounded solo book, but for a flagship Batman run it’s missing that big cinematic 'wow' factor. I know the run just started but there’s nothing really-

Recent pickups over the last month and a half Now I need to pickup vol 2 of Nocenti and somehow find the Michelinie/Mcfarlane omnibus Also JL N52 having two different colors is kind of making my ocd go insane but we’ll let it be #DC #Marvel

@robertliefeld I don’t really see why Gabriel was fired and people like Brevoort, Cebulski and Lowe are still there. As long as these guys are still around Marvel comics will still be a mess..

@thechrisanton I love all of those characters you mentioned especially Blade and Ghost Rider, but they are “B-level” in popularity compared to X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spidey. Hopefully Marvel can find some type of footing in this and they can branch out to some of the more horror related guys

@thechrisanton I would like to see horror-related characters for a horror universe but do you really think kicking off a new “universe” with Blade, Ghost Rider, etc are going to sell more copies of an issue than X-Men, Fantastic Four or Spider-Man?

I have a LOT of thoughts about this Marvel Midnight reveal and 99% of them are skepticism. Why not use the actual Midnight characters? Blade, Ghost Rider, Doctor Voodoo. Elevate them to A-list in their own universe. They've done these horror twists before. It feels redundant.

@Ssnyder1835 @VanMaddle1 The Twin Films Phenomenon .. (like when Armageddon and Deep Impact came out in the same year). Lol I think both DC and Marvel saw that readers were hungry for "fresh starts" that weren't just temporary reboots like the New 52.

@VanMaddle1 I love the ultimate line but we pitched absolute before ultimate started, back in 22. Sometimes the same ideas are just in the air. We considered changing our approach when ultimate started, then decided to just keep to the path

The light had its turn. Marvel Comics introduces Midnight, a bold new publishing line from a superstar lineup of creators, kicking off in August with ‘Midnight X-Men’ by Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte, followed by ‘Midnight Fantastic Four’ by Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker and ‘Midnight Spider-Man’ by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Scie Tronc. Marvel’s most definitive modern creators are given free rein to reimagine heroes with shocking twists and chilling transformations in boundary-less storytelling that will keep readers on edge issue after issue. The X-Men no longer fight for acceptance, they hunger for blood. The Fantastic Four venture into the unknown not to save the world—but to unleash terror upon it. And Spider-Man discovers that with great power… comes something monstrous.

@ComicsCuts I’ve always loved Jorge Jimenez on art. But im surprised everyone was so hype for this run when they announced Fraction as the writer, he’s not bad everything he writes is just a slowburn. I dont really think he’s written any comic moments that wow’d me either.
