Indigenous peoples and advocates have long drawn attention to the high rate of violence against Indigenous women, pointing to its roots in colonialism and forced assimilation. The overrepresentation of Indigenous women as victims of violent crimes in Canada is well-documented.

From Feb 12-16, OISA will have a Red Dress installation on display in Gowlings Hall. this week, we will be providing information about what the Red Dress Project is, and statistics about the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2 Spirit People (MMIW2S+).

On Jan 31, OISA will host our 1st of 3 Lunch and Learn sessions this semester! This event will have a guest speaker deliver teachings on the session's theme, "Powwow and Etiquette". Lunch will also be catered by Dashmaawaan Bemaadzinjin. View the link in our bio to register!

Last Wed, Jan 10, OISA hosted a career panel for the Indigenous students of Osgoode to network with a diverse set of reps from various firms across Ontario. Enormous thank you to each of these reps who graciously and generously donated their time to speak with our students!

In support of NTRD, OISA, in collaboration with @legalandlit hosted a bingo/raffle night for students last semester. We are thrilled to announce that $264 was raised and donated to the @OrangeShirtSoc!

On Oct 30, an email was sent by the Union Solidarity Front. Within, OISA’s name was included without consultation or consent. We want to advise our community that we have contacted the responsible parties to rectify this. Relevant faculty members have also been notified.

Osgoode community, thanks to your generous contributions during our Trivia Night in support of our Red Dress Campaign, we're happy to announce that, through these efforts, we were able to donate $561.00 to the Native Women's Association of Canada. Thank you to all who supported!
